Breakfast is so simple and full-filling, I have a bag of clementines. Lunch so far I get by even though I may not crave them, I have either dateorade or bananas. Dinner?! I break after a…Continue

Hello,
Does anyone know where I can buy cheap organic honey dates...either online or LA county or Orange County? if you have any resources I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Lydia

Hello,
Im very new to the 811 way of living...and I want to shorten my chances of doing anything wrong. Should I eat all fruits ripe? or are there some I wouldnt need to eat ripe and some I do. This goes for anything eaten on the 811.
Thank you all ahead of time.

fswartz said… you just ask whoever is working in the produce department and they'll set you up with a box and mark it for you
fswartz said… I found out how much that warehouse sells bananas for. It's $30 for a 40 lb box. If you go to Mothers Market they will also honor that price if you buy a 40 lb box.
fswartz said… I'm not sure what their prices are, I don't have the price sheet available to me.
But I know what you mean about craving the worst around dinner. Luckily my self control is good haha. I'm just looking forward to summer fruit season and lots of cheap melons so I have more ready to eat produce around without waiting for ripening.
And 3 months sounds great, good job. I didn't completely cut out salt for mine either, I'd like to experience the difference though. And I know a couple people in orange that eat mostly raw, if there's ever a fruit potluck or something like that I'm sure we'd all be interested in meeting more people, I'll have to check out that group you made.
Adi ♥ said… Well I've never tasted plain vanilla extract so I wouldn't know but I guess so. Carob powder doesn't have much of a taste, in my opinion, until it's mixed with something. But you should try it for yourself :) I think you can order raw carob powder on amazon :)
fswartz said… I slowly eased into it around last summer, basically just incorporating more fruit into my diet. Then I did a full month raw in October. Ever since then I've been really hot and cold with it, and right now I'm basically prioritizing at least two raw meals a day, which is working out really well for me. What about you?
There's actually a produce warehouse in Anaheim which has good deals too. I've never been there but my boyfriend has bought bulk from there. It's called Jax Produce Warehouse if you wanna look it up.
Adi ♥ said… Hi Lydia,
I'm not the hugest fan of carob in itself, it has kind of an odd taste in my opinion, but mixed into smoothies or raw desert recipes it does taste similar to chocolate, so it works. Check out Megan Elizabeth's videos, she has a few great chocolatey recipes using Carob.
Have fun with the recipes!

P.S.: Love your latest status post, totally agree with that one!
fswartz said… hey! thanks for the friend request. i noticed you're from the same area as me, you should check out the farmer's market on saturday mornings at the shopping center near UCI. it can be pricy, but if you're buying in bulk the vendors are willing to bargain. also wholesome choice market and mother's market has great weekly specials if you haven't checked that grocery store out yet.
