I'm a novelist, married, with grown children. I saw the name of the page on facebook, where one of my friends is a fan. I liked the name and had a look. I have looked a number of times at the raw way of eating, and of eating mostly fruit. I already drink green smoothies in the morning, and usually have a salad for second breakfast. I want to make more changes in my food choices to feel better. I take a drug that ties up my liver, so I do not need to be eating junk that ties it up more. I want to be well. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to get off that drug, and eat what nature intended me to eat.

I enjoy romance, comedy, science fiction and fantasy and tasteful combinations thereof. I'm a writer currently working on a novel about a grieving bipolar violinist whose psychiatrist thinks he's a samurai. He introduces her to green smoothies, among other things.

I'm 56, and I'm on my own as to making this change. I have been eating cooked food all my life, with a few weeks off it here and there. I will be fighting my habits to make the change, and eventually my husband's going to notice we're not eating the same stuff. He already gives me heavy sighs when I serve him mainly veggie soups and stir fries and rice. My husband will be a complication, I am sure. He used to eat better, as he was a chiropractor, but he's seriously into meat and white bread now, and has a jaw problem so he can't chew a lot. He's very ill with psoriasis, hypothyroid, exhausted adrenals, depression and arthritis. I can sometimes get him to drink a little smoothie, but he notices a bad effect on his blood sugar when he gets a lot of fruit. Maybe he'll see me getting well and change his tune. I hope so! I love him and want to keep him around for years to come. I enjoy a challenge! I'll want to read advice on changing over gradually, and I'll have to search the site for some little things, such as whether it's ok to drink herb teas or hot water as part of my water intake in the early days. I will read the book; I've heard of it and read part of it. SO what I want is help in breaking habits, advice on changing over, and advice on coping with non-HCRV family members.

Hi, Kathy, How are you! I wanted to let you know. I have been doing well on the program. My husband has been watching from a distance you might say. He says he is not doing the plan but he is drinking more smoothies and eating alot of the fruit. I am so jazzed that he is eating better that I am more committed too! ( There is real hope here!) ( I am trying not to get too excited yet in case he decides to drop it. Now he is interested in exercising a little more. He sounds so much better. Cross your fingers!
Hi Kathy, I hope you are doing well and feeling good on the plan. I am feeling a little fluey today but was able to go through my day.I have happy news. My husband who is not a vegetarian started drinking Bananas Smoothies today. He really likes them. I hope to keep this going and try to slowly lessen the amount of meat that he is used to eating. Hopefully one day soon we will buy none. That would make me happy. One day at a time... .
