Newbie calorie intimidation

Hi I'm new, trying to start this week. Strangely, I'm finding myself really intimidated by the fruit I have all around me. I think I have this notion that I can't just pick up *a* piece of fruit and eat it, that I have to eat 6 of them or something. How to get over the calorie-intimidation hurdle??If there's one thing I hear from conventional nutritionists (or my mom, lol) it's that "oh gee, girl, you're not getting nearly enough calories!!"  I'm not anorexic or any other food disorder, but…See More

Adrenals

Does anyone have specific adrenal advice relevant to 811?  Is it pretty much safe to just eat according to plan and trust that adrenal depletion/exhaustion will stabilize? It sounds like the fruit feeds the brain so well that stress perception changes, which would lighten the load. Do I need to be concerned about anything like the sugars or intervals at which I eat? See More

I've been veg for over a decade and went raw in 2009. This went very well— I learned a lot and felt great. Even did a blog about our experiences as my partner and I tried different raw recipes, books, etc. Then "life happened" and I caved under stress, began eating a little cooked food, thinking that was okay (quinoa, sweet potato, etc). But this led to other cooked food which eventually led to refined flours and sweets. Arrgh! :) So 2011 has brought me — instead of health — tons of crippling pain, acne, and a crashed endocrine system.

So for the past month or so I've been looking for a program to help me get back on track and STAY on track, for good. I ran into Freelee's vegan bitch video(s) on youtube (I just LOVE the "you make it my business!" video!! Bravo!!!). In the sidebar on youtube I started watching the raw food talks and realized this "kick in the pants" attitude is just what I need right now to help me jump back in ("transitioning" is NOT working -- I need to just DO IT). So here I am.

My biggest challenges are getting past the detox phase of going raw (I turn into a real bitch when I have toxins flooding my blood stream! Liver has in the past had trouble keeping up with the flushing), and bananas give me the most intense stomach pain I have ever experienced. It doesn't happen when I eat just one banana now and then, but back when my body was really clean I started using bananas in a lot of smoothies over the course of a couple days and I ended up about to die (lol) from the pain. No other fruit does this, although I am sensitive to tropical fruits for some reason, despite loving the taste (mango, papaya, etc. makes me queasy). I'm open to reaching a point where my body can handle these fruits (if, say, it has to do with food combining, ripeness, etc.) but will need some TLC on this issue as I try to transition to those particular fruits.
30bad is a HCRV (high carb, raw vegan) internet community which promotes a high carb raw lifestyle free of any animal products. Our forum does not tolerate encouragement of anything contrary to HCRV.
