Chest Pain/Skin Updates

I have recently been staying on the Permaculture Institute Farm here in The Channon, Australia. Since being here, I haven't been eating as many greens as before. In fact...

Since my fast in March/April last year I haven't eaten as many as before. I also noticed these pains in my stomach/chest area that would come especially after melon or mangoes, grapes, etc. The pains are quite strong and can last for up to 15-20 mins. They can hurt a lot sometimes. I never really thought I wasn't eating enou… Continue

as of today, it has been two years since i first took the leap (overnight!) into the world of raw foods.

what's changed:

- acne disappeared after 1 year

- anxiety attacks no more
- no longer in a state of constant depression
- grew 1/2 and inch (no joke!)
- can think much more clearly
- can move much more efficiently
- have energy all day

- better tan
- smell great!
- better functioning digestion
- haven't… Continue

weight training and sprints

i have begun to add weight training into my fitness routine and i am loving it!!

i've been reading a lot about weight training for women and how the problem with a lot of weight maintenance programs is that people (especially womyn) are afraid of weight training. in the book strong women stay slim, the author (a medical doctor), outlines the importance of weight training in order to keep the body in top shape. some reasons are:

- muscles are metabolically active, fat is not
- muscle all… Continue

began sprint training

i've started to incorporate sprint training (bare foot, on grass) into my exercise routine. i think it is one of the best exercises you can do in order to gain/retain muscle while letting go of any excess you don't need.

at first i was a little weary about it because all you see are pictures of these huge guys who look like bodybuilders (and probably are, among other things). but when i did more research into it, sprinting is known to even any body type out to look more proportioned. it can dec… Continue

why fruit and exercise go hand in hand - revised

i believe both fruit AND exercise work synergistically to make a healthy body. i am sure there are reasons beyond what i am about to mention, which i would love to hear about in the comments if you can think of more!

exercise raises testosterone levels and fruit lowers them (on fruit lowering testosterone p.61:… Continue

Howdy Julie! Hope all is well with you in the land down under. Is the potluck on Jan 29th? Sure I'd go, at the very least it'd be a decent place to promote the series of talks I'm doing in Perth on lfrv in February. I'll see if I can round up some more Ottawa frugivores to help crash the party ;) I guess Nick will still be in Jamaica around that time.

My friend who I used to date is staying down the road with her mom… She grew up here too and she's recently become an Aussie citizen! I think I'm going to marry her now lol… She's around here until the end of January when school starts again, so I'll be picking her brain as to how I might be able to do the same. I'll have to visit the land of Oz first before I'd attempt to move there obviously, but all I have to say is if I never saw another snow flake in my life I wouldn't shed a tear :D I did get myself a sunlamp for christmas which has helped TREMENDOUSLY… as long as I get my fruit and exercise I'm happy so it's all good for now.

Yea I have the thermo at a roasty 25, and over 100 bananers ripening on an open counter... I havent done the coriander much lately myself. I cut back ever since I cut back on frozen berries.

Im leaving in 20 days! I might get lost in the mountains, paint my face using different shades of clay and other available raw materials, and exchange my boxer shorts for a banana tree leaf...
