Recognizing Each Success

I realized it is important for me to recognize all the little successes that will one day lead up to a bigger success.  But every time I fail, I tend to only look at the failure.  Wasn't I succeeding until I failed?  Why didn't I recognize that before? And the more you acknowledge successes, the easier it is to stay motivated and keep yourself going.  I decided to play a game with myself.  Habits are formed by repetition, until it becomes second nature.  For every meal that I successfully have…See More

New Stuff, coming back...

I've been lingering around her the last few months, not really able to fully apply 8-1-1, but I have noticed that it has influenced my food choices to a degree.  I'll generally pick high carb, low fat foods, but not always the best ones.  I guess I'm drawn back here because there are things that I want to fix that haven't been going away on their own and I do still view this as the ideal diet.  Maybe I can give it a more honest try again and handle some issues I've had attention on.#1.…See More

Banana Island- Day 1,2

Okay, I've survived 2 days.  Yesterday I was extremely bloated in the morning (before the banana-eating commenced).  I couldn't eat anything until around 3:00pm.  Then, as I went to the kitchen to make my first banana smoothie, I caught a whiff of pizza and quiche.  Oh man, I almost lost it.  I had the quickest inner-dialogue of about 100 times of this cycle:"Should I?""I shouldn't"But I want to""No I don't"(repeat) I picked up a piece of pizza and just stood there frozen for a minute.  Then I…See More

Banana Island-Day 0

Hi guys! It's been so long since I've posted on here!!  Like a year it seems.I really wanted to keep up a blog here for my 30 day challenge on banana island, starting tomorrow.  I have fake nails on so it is really hard to type... so I will keep it short today.  Truthfully, I really started the challenge on September 1st, lasted 4 days, and then succumbed (temporarily) to temptations in and around my home.  My family is neither vegan nor raw, although I've been transitioning for nearly a year…See More

Burning Muscle

Hi guys,Forgive me if this is already answered somewhere.  I am confused! More than one "expert" has said that certain exercises are not as efficient at helping you with you fat loss goals than others.  In fact some exercises may be slowing your fat loss.  Like running.  Why?  Because running is an aerobic exercise which does not build muscle.  You can actually BURN muscle.  For people who run all the time, this just means that they are thin and don't carry too much extra muscle.  For people…See More

My Personal 30 Day Challenge

Okay! So I'm finally committing to something!  I have been doing pretty well the last couple months but still essentially transitioning.  The holidays were not great diet-wise, but I'm pretty sure I made better food choices than the previous year.  The longest I went on 100% 811 was 2 1/2 weeks.  So I'm committing to 1 months or 30 days now.  Hmmm, that means like 4 Feb.  I can do it!!!  I'm going to focus on mono meals to make life simple. Now that I'm back at work, I notice I'm immediately…See More

Hi. I started looking for health about 3 years ago after being overweight all my life and having low energy levels/irritability. I tried all kinds of low-carb, calorie restricting diets and found myself going up and down a 30 pound range over and over again. I felt hopeless, desperate and always anxious to "get back to where I was". I just started learning as much as I could, reading as many books as I could and one day I started searching youtube videos for answers and found Natasha St. Michael. I've been about 90% vegan for about 6 months now, but ever since I started watching Durianrider's videos about a week ago, I'm fully committed. I hope with the support of others. I can continue to stay inspired and motivated in this lifestyle and this journey!!!
