Jack said… No, it's complicated. I'm alone at the moment to work on myself & fix some financial trouble, but the idea is to re-join forces, the sooner, the better. We obviously miss each other a lot, but we had to do this now. Long story.
Yeah, I seriously didn't like the way people punish their children... I guess it's better than school but still very much short of the real thing. We really don't know where we're going to end up at this stage, I can work from anywhere so that's good but there are other... factors. EU is easiest in many ways yet I don't currently feel like we'll be able to find our place in Europe... New Zealand has many wonderful things to offer, Australia also to a lesser degree, but it's tricky to get a long term visa there.
Thailand is very good in many ways, it's getting slightly trickier with visas though. I'd probably not settle here long-term though. We're very much travellers too...
Jack said… Were you to the Rookley meetups last year? Or the ones in Sandown before that? If you did, you must have met my wife, less likely myself. I thought there were no unschooling families on the island, not meaning to hurt anyone but I found the Edwardian legacy very much alive on IoW, even among home educators. I'm not much of a fan of it... ;-)
Jack said… Hi Jo,
Whereabouts on IoW are you? I lived there for a year with my family, left last autumn but contemplating a possible return. Are you in the learning zone? What's this community you mention? My children are 7 and 4, mostly unschooled.
