i've been on the raw journey for over 4 years now, but still don't feel truly confident in trusting my body and listening within. i guess this is a process and i need to be patient with myself and grow slowly. currently i'm located in china, and as you would probably guess, there's virtually no raw fooders here. all the market place veggie and fruit sellers know that i'm raw, and they still get a kick out of it. my dream is to one day move to hawaii, soaking in endless sunshine, inhaling fresh air, and gazing into the distant ocean. i will get there~

eat raw and the locals

Posted on June 1, 2011 at 9:04pm 0 Comments

being raw here in china is a funny thing... more and more so ppl. are noticing what i eat, and they often ask: "are you gonna eat that raw?"

today i bought a bunch of baby asparagus and the front gate woman asked: "how are you gonna eat that? stir-fry?"

"nope, just wash and eat, like a cucumber." i replied.

"hao li hai oh!" (translate: wow, you are something else!) she exclaimed. then added: "you eat everything raw..."

i walked away laughing, and turned back and smiled at… Continue

Hello Jennie,

Thank you so much for sending me that link, it was very inspirational. I can only begin to imagine how much I will have changed after living this lifestyle for four years, it will be truly amazing. I do hope to one day be an inspiration to others as everyone else here has been to me. To answer your question, I am actually German/Norwegian, it seems we all have lookalikes out there.  :)

Hi jennie!!

I just read that you would like to move to Hawaii eventually- man, that would be amazing!! I went last year, and everyone is so mellow and laid back! Things are expensive but there is costco there!! :)

I visit China, taiwan, and Hong Kong every two years or so. I have not been to Shanghai yet- just Beijing. I like it there!

I am currently on my first week or raw and the first few days were easy, but the past two I have been craving some vegan junk food. :( luckily i didn't eat it.

Anyhow, Ni hao from california!!

Hey Jennie!

About the dates: it depends which sort of dates you get. Zahidi dates are very dry, bahri dates are very moist. Khadrawi are slightly less moist than bahri but still very delicious. Take your pick!

Hi Jennie,

I do not use any hair care products once soever. I only use a regular shampoo that is somewhat made of organic ingredients and is paraben free. No conditioner. I have recently been using a different soap, one that i use for my body as well, and it seems to be less harsh on my hair. It is from Dr. Woods and it is a pure almond castile soap with Shea Butter and smells amazing. And the ingredients are great. Check out the link ->

Hi Jennie,

1 - The travel you mention should be OK. She should just be sure not to leave the dates in hot temps (like in a car in the sun).

2 - You should be fine with fresh dates. If you feel unbalanced eat more greens, more water.

3 - First thing to know is that dates from every grower are going to be a little bit different. Even dates from the same tree can have different flavors and textures! If you're talking about Bautista Khadrawys, no, i don't think they taste like caramel. It is Bautista's Halawys that tastes very much like caramel (they are sold out til next harvest). The Khadrawys are gooey and sweet and delicious, by far the most popular variety.

Hope you love em too, let me know!

Hi Jennie!

The 15lb deals are on the Promotions page. I have never had Bautista dates, but Shield's dates are great quality and much fresher and sweeter than any date you could buy at a health food store. They ship really fast too - we usually get them in 2-3 days.

I was just speaking for Oahu in general, Im sure there are alot of cheap deals for fruit on the big island as there are lots of farms. I am considering moving there in the future : )

I live about two blocks from the ocean. My aunt lives right on the beach on the sixth floor with a big lanai (balcony) with a bed on it! So you can look at the stars and ocean and hear the waves as you fall asleep..sometimes they are very loud though!
