chestnuts?

I wondered if chestnuts are ok to eat?  I like raw & cooked chestnuts and my flatmate scavenged bags full of them on his way to/from work!  :)

My birthday is coming in a couple of weeks and I was crazy enough to invite some 40 people!  I reckon only about 30 people will come, and there will be at least 20 coming for sure.   Anyone with experience of catering for so many people LFRV without going bankrupt?  I'm thinking of a night party with dancing, drinks etc. I won't provide drinks myself, but will let guests bring their own if they wish.  So I need advice mainly on canapes, cakes, and non-alchoholic drinks that aren't…See More

I've become seriously interested in becoming a vegetarian when I met my ex-boyfriend who was vegan and had fruit for breakfast. I think he had Fit For Life book which talks about food combination (my memory is a blur on this). the whole idea of food combination was an eye-opener for me! How on earth is it possible that people don't know this? We are advised to eat as many different things as possible. My mum being a food chemist and all.. I thought my poor health was because I wasn't eating enough variety in a meal..

I have been interested in raw vegan diet for a while and started eating excessive amounts of fruit in the past weeks whilst reading posts at this website. I would now like to be more of an active member.

inspired someone to do LFRV to cure his asthma!

Posted on November 30, 2010 at 8:00am 1 Comment

I met my ex-bf the other day (we're still good friends) for the first time since I went LFRV
He's (cooked) vegan although he likes eating cakes in cafes.. so that's not strictly being vegan..but he eats only fruit for breakfast, and inspired me to do the same and for me to go vegan-flexitarian as well.. which made my eczema more tolerable.

He has been having asthma pretty much all his life and when he heard about my eczema being gone by doing LFRV, he started…

Not a fruity day & annoying FB 'friend'

Posted on November 25, 2010 at 11:30pm 8 Comments

It's a very cold day today! I have hot water bottles to hold on to, but they aren't enough to keep me warm..

I'm not having a great appetite for fruit today, but ate pears and satsumas anyway.. despite the apparent abundance of fruit in my kitchen, the stuff are either unripe or not tasty looking.. I wasn't going to go shopping AGAIN so I've decided to eat a HUGE salad for lunch with coconut-kiwi dressing.

I thought it was huge when I ate it, but…

I CURED my eczema! Returned from fasting retreat etc.

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 1:00pm 1 Comment

I am back from this week-long juice-fast retreat.
I feel so good now. My skin is eczema free for the first time since 2007 and the clearest since I was 8 in 1988!!!

In 2007 I've been to the same retreat and that's when I experienced this first. clear-up. I knew from my other previous illnesses that my itchiness seems to diminish when I have some other illness (eg. flu) and that had happened during the fasting retreat back then. I was vomiting, shivering, feverish…

I was invited to a housewarming party, where my friend cooked for the guests.
I'd told her already that I only eat fruit and veg to cure my eczema, and she was more than willing to accommodate my needs and prepared a fruit platter, a huge salad and roasted vegetables (I didn't have the guts to say I only ate 'raw' food! lol)

The challenge came about around an hour into the meal where everyone on the table took turns telling me to just try the pasta and chicken…

Hey there yeah Hollywood is quite challenging! and you are in the united Kingdom. I know nothing about it. Isn't it amazing what illnesses people suffer from that are normal now. It is so unnecessary to live with that! I'm glad Dr. Graham changed your life for the better as well :)

haha thats rad the blending is the wake up call :), remember those slip ups only reaffirm why we make the choices we do, always a upward learning curve, even when we slip :)
Ramp up the exercise and calories n it really doesn't matter how cold the outside gets. Wear extra clothing if needed, it gets easier and easier year by year. These days its not even a thought for me.

Was wondering what youre main struggles were ....at the minute im just eating raw mon-fri eating a cooked meal on weekends i can give up most foods easily...chocolate...caffeine and dairy no bother but one thing i just don't ever think i can give up is takeaway indian never ha ha im not going to beat myself up about it though none of us are perfect....im just trying to constantly improve so i know im winning in that respect.
