Jason Ibanes replied to Teri L's discussion Can eating too many tomatoes be harmful?
"No, vitamin A present in tomatoes is not harmful, as it's not Retinol, which is Vitamin A issued from animal produce. Tomatoes however are from the nightshade family and some might develop allergies over that; so one should listen carefully for…"

811 question: what is the energy cost to process/store carbs vs. lipids.

If I understand the 811 "diet" (as of its Latin definition of diet=lifestyle) it relies on the fact that the human body is extremely good at storing fat from foods but not very efficient at storing carbohydrates. As such, I suspect that storing 1 calorie from fat (lipid) probably "costs" no more than 1 calorie (most likely in sugar) while breaking down 1 carbohydrate probably costs more than one calorie. This would explain homeostasis and why people on 811 look "better" than people on SAD. As…See More

Folks,As a fruitarian I trend not to eat different fruits together during one meal; instead I will have 3-4 avocados for instance and another fruit about 1 hour after, such as 20 or 30 tangerines. Simply because it takes me at least 30 minutes to digest the "previous" fruit, sometimes more, depending on the quantity and water content. However Dates and Bananas go so well together. I think this is not a terrible deal as they both are part of the same subcategory of "sweet fruits", as such, the…See More
