When I was 10, the movie 'Babe' made me want to be an ethical vegan. I was on and off until 21, then I followed the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) for seven years and how sad it was.
Since then, S.A.D. diet has only gotten me fat with a lot of medical problems. In '10, I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and had to sleep upright with a special pillow for years, which was not good rest. Then in '11, I had a Candida infection in my mouth (gross and very painful) from being overperscribed antibiotics because I was always sick. Then in '12, it was the breaking point, I had been diagnosed with a tumor.
I was the heaviest I've ever weighed (not overweight according to the S.A.D. diet, but I was not healthy). I was sick and tired all of the time.
I used to feel sick to my stomach every day and specifically at breakfast and after I ate meals. I had mucus problems, asthema and frequent sinus infections.
I told myself enough was enough. Since July '12, I started weaning my way off and cutting out all the culprits of my problems; dairy, meat, and cooked foods.
I quickly realized the gourmet raw foods I started eating was way too high in fat and protein and I would get digestion problems often because I was told misinformation about what the body needs. I listened to my inner truths about why I was still getting breakouts every time I had a raw meal and realized I had a sensitivity to nuts.
Since going 80/10/10 recently, my skin has cleared up and I'm continuing to lose weight healthfully. In almost six months, I lost 45 lbs. I'm loving my new body, lifestyle, energy level and for the first time I'm realizing my althetic nature and starting to train for big things fittness-wise and so excited for the future! I've found purpose and renewed my passion in life and it's all thanks to the way I eat, which in turn makes me a much better and productive person for the people in my life. I feel smarter, faster, stronger than ever and also more at peace with myself. My medical and psychological problems are gone and I don't even need my inhaler anymore!

Chastising non-raw non-vegans?

Posted on April 19, 2013 at 5:55am 4 Comments

I've been raw vegan for the past 8 months and high carb low fat raw vegan for about 4 months now.

When I went raw, my boyfriend went vegan. Now it's been 18 days he's now a raw vegan, which the challenge is to go 60 days. He shared with me that once the 60 days is over, he'll go back to eating the way he wants (we'll see what happens though, he may feel too good to go back).

The thing is he is really excited about it and feeling great, which is awesome. But he's quick to…

Help! Detox!

Posted on April 3, 2013 at 6:38am 1 Comment

I am currently coaching a group of people to go raw for 60 days OVERNIGHT.

I didn't choose to do this overnight, but it's part of a documentary.

It took me about 3-6 months transition to go raw, so I feel bad for these people who are doing it overnight.

Anywho, one participant is vomiting and had a migraine headache.

What to do for him?? Help!

I didn't go through detox like that, but I'm kind of worried.

No-poo transition tips for long hair

Posted on March 20, 2013 at 4:53pm 0 Comments

I have been at it for a while now trying to go poo-less, as in shampoo in case anyone is wondering.

So, transitioning can be difficult and I've had to do this many times for no poo.

I'm down to washing my hair once a week with a store bought natural organic shampoo that I still have tons of. I will make my own when I run out of the stash of expensive shampoo.

Skin brush and comb hair with brush with wooden bristles before showering.

In shower, wet hair and massage scalp for… Continue

Difference between 801010 & natural hygiene?

Posted on March 13, 2013 at 10:04am 1 Comment

I thought natural hygiene and the 80/10/10 are basically the same...
But someone who is natural hygiene said they are not 80/10/10...
Someone explain the difference to me. My understanding is that 80/10/10 adopts the same lifestyle

Hi Jesi,

Maybe drink your water in the morning before eating, give it a 15 minute sit, and then eat breakfast full of fruits. No water right after because you dilute all the enzymes.  Hydration is important, but so is timing of it.

My suggestion if you get cold, go to the warm tea route instead of cooked soup.

cheers!

Hi Jesi,

Welcome aboard! :)

You can check out the Banana Welcome Wagon at:

http://www.30bananasaday.com/profiles/blogs/30bad-banana-wagon-tour

To get started. Be sure to note food, calorie, water, sleep recommendations and log (can use www.cronometer.com or similar)  your food/drink intake, at least for the first few months to get used to what you need to eat to stay on target calorie wise as well as macronutrient (carbs:fat:protein) wise.

Enjoy!
