Around Christmas i was in search of better health, i was feeling very uncomfortable in my body because i was abusing it with lots of holiday food. Born to a family of farmers in Arkansas that milked cows for a living, then raised chickens, and now still has beef cattle. I had all the access to good farm rasied meat, and yet in Junior High i became vegitarian because i was not comfortable with the killing of animals. It was hard in a family that depended on animal consumtion for there income. Eventually i gave up my eithical ways and went back to eating SAD. I have always been intrested in health and sustainablity, through these passions i have spend lots of time foraging for wild edibles. I am also the mother of two, i have always been concerned for my childrens health and scared of the commerical meat industry. I began looking to sorce my milk local and raw (it is illegal in Arkansas to buy or sell raw milk) feeling really good about my money supporting the good people of my community. I also began rasing happy animals to feed my children, i have lots of free range chickens, turkeys, goats and pigs. I felt that it was the only way to know that my children were healthy, getting the best protien and fat i could give them. I spent time fasting so that i could find strengh to do my own dirty work, and kill some of me animals to feed my family. As i spent time cleaning the animals i have loved and rasied all of there lives, i realized that it felt completely wrong. I could feel my body and soul becoming more and more unsettled at death being a part of my family being healthy and happy. Everything about rasing animals made me happy, seeing them give birth and grow from tiny babies. There happy little spirts enjoing the green grass and sunshine that so many commerical animals never experience. There lives gave me such joy that i felt i must be doing the best thing for my family, this joy and happiness also made me evaluate my need to eat meat. I gave up eating meat my self because i didnt want to have to kill more because of my own consumtion. I found the HCLF Vegan lifestyle and it seemed to fit with everything i was feeling. My body and emotions were crying out and thankfully i found the answers i needed to understand. I love everything outside, although i am a working mother ( i put in 84 hours this week), i also enjoy running and cycling. I am passsionate about Ultimate Frisbee and am very excited about seeing my athletic level rise to my potiential. I am looking forward to my body staying healthy so i can teach my children to love this beautiful planet and get as much adventure as possible in this great life. My life has changed so much in the past 6 weeks, i want to stay this passionate about life. I want to give my children the understanding that so many Americans lack, i want to raise healthy and happy children so they can be passionate amazing adults. I am also pardoning all my "meat" animals, and planting a fruit orchard.
