Our community would be delighted to know you better. Please tell us more about yourself and what brought you to 30BaD. We suggest you pick a name other than your own if you want to maintain anonymity.: I am a liberal Democrat, a self-proclaimed feminist, and an ethical vegan. I believe that life is the most wonderful gift and it should be lived that way every day. The most beautiful things in life, the things that really matter, cannot be bought in a fancy store, but can be seen everyday. Watching the sun set ~ biting into a ripe, organic banana or apple ~ feeling the summer breeze on your face ~ smiling at everyone you meet ~ laughing until your stomach hurts ~ reading a good, leisurely book outside on a warm summer day ~ jumping in a big, crunchy pile of leaves ~ going hiking and being one with nature ~ visiting local animal shelters and SPCAs to play with their dogs (I always leave these places with a few tears, because it boggles my mind that anyone could hurt such precious creatures) ~ exploring different cultures and traditions ~ finding the good in every situation ~ trying new foods and wines ~ thanking God for the little things that really matter most.

I am a graduate student in the field of religion and philosophy, and I love it! I could not imagine a better fit for myself! My goal is to earn my MA and then my Ph.D., and then to teach at a secular public university. Feminist theology is my passion!! I also love finding out new info. about the OT (the info. that the religious radical rights either don't know or don't want you to know). I also would love to learn more about Buddhism!! It's such a beautiful, peaceful religion, and I think we could all use a little more of that in our lives!

I have the most wonderful husband in the entire world!! I know that sounds cliche', but he is the yin to my yang. He is my lover and my best friend, and I could not imagine my life without him!!

I have the cutest dog ever. His name is Fritz, and he is a Bichon Frise. I have had him since the third grade, so he's definitely up there age-wise. But he's still a young, rambunctious puppy at heart!!

I love to travel, and have been to several countries overseas. Costa Rica is my favorite place, and the laid-back, care-free lifestyle there is how I wish to live my life. Life is an adventure, so just have fun with it!!

Any 811ers in Southern Cali?

Are there any 811ers who live in Southern California? I am very new to this lifestyle, and don't know of anyone in the area who lives by the 811 lifestyle. Just looking to connect and make new buddies!

I know that there are lots of raw retreats and things of that nature that go on, but I never seem to hear about them until they have already passed. Does anyone know of any 811 retreats that are coming up this year or next year in the Southern California/Arizona area? And are these… Continue

I was invaded by armies of them! I actually stopped buying bananas all winter it was so bad.

What I do now is keep my fruit near a ceiling fan and take anything with a strong smell (bananas usually) and place them in a zipped backpack or pillowcase which I leave to ripen in a closet. As for trash, I don't keep any inside my apartment. Haven't seen one since!
