Vegetarian since age 19. Been trying to transition to 80-10-10 since 2006. I started attending Overeater's Anonymous and dealing with some childhood trauma garbage, and am finally feeling more hopeful about fully living the dream!

I am a big-time gardener and really want to learn more about permaculture. I volunteer with a community garden, and am teaching some of my children (the ones who are interested) about gardening. I would like to transition to a lifestyle where I am growing all my food one day. I love exercise. Right now I am doing circuit training with body weight and hand weights, riding a stationary bicycle, and doing a Couch to 5K run/walk program when the weather isn't too nasty. I love to hike also, but not in winter. I am working on learning Spanish. I love to watch inspirational documentaries, especially about artists and other passionate people.

I mainly need to connect with others who understand this lifestyle for empathy and moral support. Long-term, I'd like to make contacts so I can be living in a community with others who are living joyfully and making a difference on this planet. And honestly, I have a hard time making enough money to buy enough fruit, while not working so many hours that I don't have time to spend time raising my 4 children, gardening and exercising. Maybe someone here has some ideas for me...
30bad is a fruit-focused vegan internet community which promotes a high carb fruit based vegan lifestyle free of any animal products. Freelee's Challenge: Banana Girl Challenge Update

Posted on October 15, 2012 at 12:36pm 3 Comments

I have not been successfully following the BG Challenge this month.  I need to be a lot more prepared so that I have adequate ripe fruit at all times.  I stayed raw but under-ate the first few days of the month, and then went back to cooked salty dinners.  I had I had a great raw day today, and will possibly try again for the full 30 days in November, but honestly, the sad fact is, I may be unable or unwilling to ever commit to this diet.  Let's face it, it's been almost 7 years of…

Freelee's Challenge: Goin' Banana Girl in October

Posted on September 28, 2012 at 4:19am 4 Comments

I had a salt relapse, again.  I have finally realized that I need to surrender ALL of my eating, not just most of it.  And that means surrendering my resentments when life doesn't go the way I want, or the people in my life don't do what I want.  That means I can't eat just salt-free cooked food, or a little bit of salt.  I can't go just a little bit low on my calories for a few days in a row.  Well, I can't if I want to be free of food obsession and salt addiction and water retention,…

Freelee's Challenge: Hangin' w/ Janna Banana!

Posted on September 14, 2012 at 1:18am 2 Comments

My son went through his big dental procedure fine and is already bouncing around the house, his happy usual self.  We had fun staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago--a beautiful facility!  I stayed on program and salt-free.

Then yesterday we met up with Janna Banana and went to a fruit market and stocked up!   We found yummy figs which we sampled on the way back to my house.   Now we're hanging out in the living room playing Just Dance since it is cold and threatening…

Thanks for the advice with the zucchini! I will def. try that next time I make those wraps and let you know. I use the zucchini stretch in the low fat hummus I make, as well as in my tahini salad dressing!

That's wise advice, Greenmama.  I think if we stay as positive as we can, people will react to that and be less freaked out by any dietary "weirdness."

And it's hilarious how much I DON'T want cake anymore - not even a little.  Can't believe I'm the same person ;p

Hi Greenmama-  I just wanted to say Hello.  Regardless of how you're eating and what you're up to, I just wanted to say you are a lovely person.  Are you still active with the same spiritual fellowship?  I've been doing the work there intensely and it's working miracles in my life.  Take care!

Hi Greenmama! You popped in my head this morning. I hope you are having a lovely summer with your children. I have returned to work, and really enjoy what I do. I find it pretty easy to eat a ton of yummy fruit, and the cafe has lots of bananas. Just doing my best, like usual. I miss reading your blogs LOL. Anyways, we all gotta do what we gotta do. And I am glad you are finding joy in other areas of your life. Take care!!!!
