Ginger replied to Ginger's discussion Help - Thyroid QuestionHi Ginger - Thanks for the lovely words and it is nice to hear that I helped you find this website and the amazing people here on 30bad.com I figure what is wrong with putting an ad up here, it can't hurt. Put yourself into my shoes, 90% of women that I see or meet in my life are overweight or drinking poisons daily or ating meat and dangerous foods completely out of touch with their bodies and with nature. It does narrow the possibilities a bit. Maybe I will go to the festival this year in August. Lukas

Diane L said… Also, as long as you are eating cooked be sure you have these foods TOTALLY PLAIN. Adding anything to them can make everything worse, even things that someone told you were healthy. If you add ANYTHING to these foods please ask us if they are OK.
For example, any added oil, vinegar, salt or soy sauce is not OK.
Some here say certain spices can be an option, especially as part of a backup plan, and that may be fine for some, but if you are having problems I'd keep things as simple as possible.
Diane L said… Thanks Ginger. I don't know how much you are trying to lose but part of the reason I had so much success is that I started at a high weight. As I got closer to my ideal weight, the weight loss went slower and slower. While I love where I am, I wouldn't mind losing another ten pounds to make it an even 100 pounds lost total - but my body seems to really like staying at this weight and I don't really want to stress myself out over those last ten pounds. I've kept my focus on maintaining the loss as I've lost and gained it all back before.
But I also see you are dealing with some issues where it is hard to be 100% raw, and that's fine. It just doesn't work as well for me with weight loss. I like to be able to eat a lot and once I add in some cooked food I can't. It also sets up cravings for me if I eat cooked food.
Yet if you are on thyroid medication, which I think I read, correct me if I'm wrong, that also complicates things I think. I'm sure you can reach your goals, but sometimes it takes detective work to figure out how to do it, we are each unique.
Thanks for friending me! :)

To answer your question how I finance a winter escape trip. I skipped 3.5 winters in the past 5 months each and a 10 month even by living a very modest lifestyle, in central America you can live nicely on 1200 a month. I made health a priority. I asked myself am I happy living in a winter and answer was no I am miserable in winter as the whole lifestyle cracks and start to collapse do to the poor climate which is opposite of our natural climate, plus the food sucks in winter and is twice as costly even in Vancovuer. In my work winter months are very slow so that helps. To simply put it I can't see anyone really building a very high level of health if they live 40% of the year in a inhospitable climate eating immature green fruits and suffocating their body under layers of clothing and staying indoors most of the day. Not getting sun much at all. We have to choose at a certain point either to plateau our health and live unhappy few months of the year or adopt the spring/summer/fall/summer/spring/summer plan:-) Unless you live in the warmer climates where you don't have winter. It is just one of the challenges we face. Please at least skip 1 week in mid winter and sunbathe as much as comfortable in mild to moderate sun, or in the shade of a coconut palm during the mid day sun which still gives you benefits.
Ginger, you are welcome. YOU CAN skip part or whole winter, the only question is WILL YOU make the decision and what it takes to do so. I realize that it is not easy, I know how challenging it can be even as a single guy. There is Nothing really holding us back. "THEY" try to keep us as economic slaves and so it is our responsibility to do what it takes and to choose a 811RawVegan climate and lifestyle instead of the inhospitable winter. I am organizing a raw vegan winter escape trip to Mexico and will do my best to keep the cost down to $30 a day or less (accomodation, transport, food, and basic entertainment). We Have a small group departing Dec 2nd from Vancovuer/Seattle and we will continue supercharging our health and our lifestyle in eternal sunshine of Pacific Mexico during their dry season. Join us for a week, a month or whole winter if you will.
