Some people are so lovely

Most of the time, trying to explain the 811 diet to other people is a pain in the arse. It's also highly annoying when you're staying with people and they want to cater for you. I've been travelling…Continue

Any use for papaya seeds?

I came to 811 through my experience with Crohn's Disease. You can read about my healing journey here: http://livingpassionately-francine.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-health-j...

Eating 811 has transformed my life. I now live with vitality and a new found sense of harmony with myself and others.
I love healthy food, laying in the sunshine, listening to music, playing music (violin is wonderful - couldn't live without it), flowers, gardening, laughing, animals and learning. I am passionate about health, radical feminism, environmental issues, human rights and animal welfare.

The most wonderful thing about my life is that this health is my doing. It doesn't come from any pill or supplement or mantra. It is just me! Coming from a place where I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to get out of bed from day to day, simply providing my body with the conditions it needs for self healing has meant I have cured what doctors and the general public believes to be an incurable disease. There is nothing greater than this feeling, and no one can ever take that away.

This is a list I carry with me wherever I go. It helps me stay on track if I ever consider eating crappy food, which thankfully these days is rare.
Benefits Of 811:
No Crohn's and its complications
Better sleep
Better skin
Nice hair without shampoo or conditioner
More energy
Healthy weight
Muscle gain
Healthy blood tests
No illnesses
Clarity of mind
Positive attitude
Environmentally responsible diet
Leads to a connection with interesting people
Delicious food that's easy to prepare
Constant inspiration
No danger of chronic disease down the track
No need for doctors, drugs, supplements, alternative medicines, beauty products, going to the supermarket or worrying about your health
Perspective on what's important in life

Franga's Rant #6 The great cooked food experience

Posted on July 7, 2012 at 9:48pm 5 Comments

It's been a while, so I thought it was about time for a bit of a rant. Just out of interest I've been thinking of perhaps transferring my ranting from the land of blog to the land of youtube. I feel that in this way my sarcasm will have more of a chance to shine. What do you think?

Today I'm going to talk about my recent experience of eating cooked food at a Vipassana 10 day silent retreat. For those of you who don't know Vipassana is an ancient meditation technique which was made…

Franga's Rant #5 - Reality

Posted on May 8, 2012 at 12:45pm 2 Comments

Usually these rants aim to inspire people and offer guidance and advice, however today, to be honest, I don't feel up to it. These last few days I have been feeling really overwhelmed by everything - nothing specific - just everything. There seems to be so many pieces of my life which require vigilant attention that I can't keep up with it all. There is always something I need to be doing, an email I need to reply to, a bill I haven't paid, a consideration I need to keep in mind while making…

Franga's Rant #4 - People who crap me off

Posted on April 21, 2012 at 9:06pm 4 Comments

Hi everyone,

Let's call them "growth opportunities" instead shall we? I was prompted to post this because of an annoying incident I had yesterday at the train station which in my previous life (prior to HCRV, or even prior to about 2 months ago) would have really stressed me out, but on this occasion I handled in a way that I thought was much more practical.

I don't usually catch public transport because it's super lame and slow and I spent about a million hours sitting on…

Franga's Rant #3 - FishBrahs, what the hell is going on?

Posted on February 5, 2012 at 7:57am 11 Comments

I am mainly motivated to post this because of the recent bout of controversy surrounding the FishBrahs, including this post which I read this morning:

I got into feminism through being a lesbian, I just happen to fall in love with a radical feminist and this changed the way i looked at everything. It is a shame that you feel that feminist and vegan circles are angry or negative, that isn't my experience, but of course I respect that this is yours. Time is such a factor with doing any kind of activism and once you get involved it is easy to over-commit to the detriment of your own well-being. I hope the spiritual and emotional growth is going well.
