After 1.5 years of mostly low-fat raw vegan foods and a 26-day water fast in Jan-Feb ’11, I’m still experiencing a lot of health issues. Unfortunately things seem to be worse now than before my…Continue
Hi!This is Stefanie, Evan's sister. I'm doing a research paper on vegetarianism for my english class and figured it would be a great idea to use 30 BaD as a source. My paper is strictly on the health…Continue
"I've heard that TSH should be below 1, what do you think? Also despite some health issues, all of my blood labs are within range so I question their usefulness in determining disease states. You don't really get an accurate…"
A few months ago I was faced with the dilemma of whether or not to take antibiotics. As I spend most of my days working outside, getting insect bites are inevitable. So when I noticed a red circular area on my arm with a point in the middle I wasn't all that surprised. I didn't have any other symptoms so I just watched it for a day or two. But then the red circle developed a streak from the top, extending up my arm a few inches. That concerned me enough to see a doctor. I asked him what he…See More
I’m hoping some of you can share your thoughts on certain health issues I’ve been dealing with. Having done a lot of research and experimenting over the last few years, I really just want to get to the bottom of this so that I can move on with my life. The symptoms of Vitamin A deficiency I have are hyperkeratinization of the skin (keratosis pilaris on arms, legs, and face since age 3) and poor eyesight. …See More
"Hey Evan,Your situation sounds very similar to what I was going through just a couple of months ago. I was eating a small amount of cooked food a couple of times a week (steamed veg) and lots of raw fruit and veg. The symptoms I had were pretty much…"
"I fail to see what I'm doing wrong eating a low-fat vegan diet. I realize it's not 100% optimal, but it's pretty good comparatively.
I have the 80/10/10 and don't know of a better diet.
Apparently my B12…"
"I refed very slowly for the first few weeks. When I got home about 1 month after breaking the fast and realized I was 125 lbs. (30lbs. lighter than before my fast and I'm 6ft. 2in.) I got concerned. I'm up to about 140 lbs. now…"
"Fortunately I just got an order of fresh dates. I tend to eat them whole and drink water in between, but blending would be more convenient. I like dates but I get really tired and flushed in the face after too many (like 30-40) which is…"
"Hey Evan, when I read that someone has done a 26 day water fast AFTER 1.5 years of 'mostly' LFRV then I know for SURE that they were doing something majorly WRONG somewhere.
Id get a copy of 80/10/10 and read that over and over.
Id get on…"
"Why don't you try datorade... you can blend a lot of dates this way and sip on that all day...it's a lot easier to digest than eating straight dates imo unless you have fresh dates.
Also, instead of green juices make green smoothies…"
After 1.5 years of mostly low-fat raw vegan foods and a 26-day water fast in Jan-Feb ’11, I’m still experiencing a lot of health issues. Unfortunately things seem to be worse now than before my fast. When I first switched from low-carb meat based diet to LFRV I got really sick for 10 days. My guess is that it was a major healing crises/detox. After that episode I felt and looked really healthy (bright eyes, nice skin, good energy). Bananas were the staple in my diet for about 4 months but…See More
"Thank you guys so much for your responses! It really helped on my paper. My English teacher said it was neat I actually surveyed people. Thanks again! :) And sorry it took so long for me to respond back..
"For international flights I think it's good to check all of the major airports in your area. So for you that would be Bradley in CT and JFK/La Guardia in NY, and Newark International in NJ, and I would even look at Philadelphia International…"
"I would say the pasta. But 2 oz doesn't sound like much at all. What I would do is a LFRV salad + the pasta. And now there are plenty of vegan pasta options w/o salt, wheat, etc. - I would use these, like quinoa pasta."
"Stefanie, Sister of Evan,
Welcome, and it will be my pleasure to answer your questions. Sorry if this gets a little long, lots of questions, and I am a long winded writer;}

The natural range of paw paws actually stops south of CT. I've heard this is because their natural pollinator, a type of beetle, does not live in the area. I know there is a man in Rhode Island that hand pollinates them, but I've never visited him.
I'm very curious about paw paws, though, so I'll try them eventually.
