I love your excitement! And this too: The fruity life is truly worth living. And truth be told...It's not that difficult. The food doesn't control you, you control what YOU eat.

3 months now!

3 months straight now for me doing raw 811! (recap: started in May 2007, did 811 raw for 6 months, then ate cooked food sometimes here and there - bad idea, but started again 100% raw on Wed, Oct 28, 2009, then ate 3 cooked meals while on a cruise in early Dec. '09, again, bad idea!).

Woohoo! I feel great! It gets easier and feels more normal as time goes by. Loving pears and bananas, celery, grape tomatoes, mini sweet peppers these days. And now mangos are becoming available..

2 months lfrv! Go me!

Ok, it's been 2 delicious, fruity months since my 'oops' on the cruise in December.

Today is my b'day too! (I know here it seems like it was yesterday, but where I am it's today, the 5th, still LOL). An dear 811 friend got me the coolest dangling earrings....they are green pears! So appropriate <g>! I'm thankful to be eating so healthy and not have to worry about being old and sick!

My dd and me went to the botanic gardens to celebrate and then lunch at sal

Tried 2 new fruits: sapote and canistel!

I tried chocolate sapote... it shouldn't be called 'chocolate' as it tastes nothing like chocolate.
Actually, it tasted like nothing at all! Nice texture but no taste. Very disappointing. I think it would be good blended with soaked dates to sweeten it up.

I also tried canistel. It was very soft but maybe not 100% ripe yet. I noticed a slit in it so I
decided to try it. It was ok but not super sweet. I liked the thick texture though. I eat the whole thing (after my 2 kids tried a little and did… Continue

Tried a new fruit: durian!

I think I tried frozen/thawed durian at a raw potluck in 2001 but don't remember if I liked it or not, so probably not! Actually, I'm not sure if I even tasted it...I may have only smelled it and said 'no, thank you' LOL.

Last week, we almost bought a fresh durian at an Asian store but it was $37.50 ($5.99/lb) and didn't look that good. Sheesh, I'm adventurous but that's pricey! I asked if I could return it if it wasn't good and they suddenly couldn't understand me anymore. So, we left.… Continue

Thanks, Ellen! Yeah, they were so good. The produce at my local Stop & Shop has gotten better lately. I heard one of the produce guys say, "Juicing is the best thing for you!" So maybe it's because of him! (Thanks, cool guy!) I used to drive an hour to go to Whole Foods. Now that I have a baby (who hates riding in the car), I don't bother with that any more.

CONGRATULATIONS on those 2 great months, Ellen !!!
Your pear earrings sound so neat!! It really did my heart good to read you've been 100% for 2 months. That is totally wonderful, girl! That salad bar sounds great. Yes, we have to have a plan! That's a huge secret to success, I've found. You have to be feeling like a million by now. Think of all the artery clog we're missing by living this way. At least pounds and pounds of it! Heh. I calculated up what a knob of butter a week (which most people would unwittingly put on their baked potato) would equal in a year, and it came to 6.5 cups of the stuff! SIX and 1/2 cups !!! People just don't realize on a SAD that hidden fat is everywhere and they clog (actually CEMENT!) themselves up so bad.
So proud for you, Ellen! That's a magnificent accomplishment and I love it that you're doing this !!! You inspire me totally! <3 <3 <3

were they organic? just curious. also, you don't eat of the skin do you? i've read that mango peel contains the same chemical as in poison ivy or poison oak: urushiol. could be related? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mango#Potential_for_contact_derma
