I have struggled with disordered eating since age 12. I've mainly had bulimia with restrictive tendencies. I'm on my way to ending this battle - things have been much better in the last year or so. In examining my heart, I've discovered that my real desire is not to be 'thin' per se.
I'm sick of the fight within myself and I want to adopt a lifestyle where I don't have to obsess about calories and weight. I have had times where I've not worried so much about food and exercise, and those are the only times that I have actually lost any weight and felt 'normal'!
I'm already practicing a vegan lifestyle (to the best of my knowledge) and I want to take it a step further. I've always felt so much more alive and clean when I eat mainly fruit and greens. I feel so much happier and stress-free. I want that feeling all the time! Coupled with the knowledge that I am truly nourishing my body in the best way possible.
I do come from a Christian background. I'm not very 'traditional' in this now though; I wouldn't say I hold the stereotypical 'right wing' beliefs that most people would associated with Christianity. I believe in a Creator; I have no idea how he created. I know there are ways that the world is designed to function. I do believe that in the initial created world, humans were ideally designed to eat plants and fruit.
(Genesis 2: 29) "Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. "
I don't think that the creation account in Genesis is historically accurate, necessarily, but it is a way of explaining origins, and I do believe that what is in the Bible is there for a reason, to illuminate our understanding of ourselves and creation.
Anyways! I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are foundations for my desire to eat this way.
I found 30BaD while browsing youtube videos about vegan diet, looking for some meal inspiration. I found one of Freelee's videos and knew I had to check out the webpage! Her story seemed similar to my own with respect to the disordered eating. It was so inspiring to see that I could not have to worry about food so much anymore and just eat in a manner that feels so right to me.
Now about myself a little more. I'm in my early 20s, married for just over a year, and I'm a registered nurse. I live in British Columbia in a very rainy small town. I love to hike, kayak, and generally enjoy the outdoors. I grew up in a very sunny and hot small town in BC with an abundance of fruit! I miss that so much! Incredible farmer's market. I have a dog, Oakley, a terrier-mix we rescued from a shelter this summer. Life is good!

I need to read the 80-10-10 Diet before I really know what kind of questions to ask. I suppose for me, with my 'history' I'll need to be sure I'm not restricting my calories or over-exercising. I do want to lose a bit of weight, but I'm not even in the 'overweight' category for BMI. I want the weight loss to be a product of eating in a way that I feel corresponds to my beliefs and heart.
