Any advice on how to educate my family about benefits of vegan diet?

This is a semi-rant, but I would also love some advice as to what to tell my family (in-laws) about the benefits of a plant-based diet.  Feel free to share both scientific and spiritual benefits.…Continue

This is a semi-rant, but I would also love some advice as to what to tell my family (in-laws) about the benefits of a plant-based diet.  Feel free to share both scientific and spiritual benefits.  (Especially from an LDS/ Mormon point of view.  Slim chance, I know.  But there are at least a couple of other Mormons on here, I know.)      So you know this has to start with a story, right?  On mother's day (of all days!) we started having a discussion about health/ diet.  It got a little heated…See More

WinCo Foods

I checked out WinCo Foods recently and was quite pleased with the prices!  I haven't been to Kodiak, so I don't know how it compares to that, but compared to regular grocery stores, the prices are great.  I think I have the receipt somewhere in my house.  But off the top of my head, I know that the bananas were 33 cents/lb. (compared to 57 cents/lb. at regular grocery stores).  I saw NO organic fruit.  Sad... But there was a fair selection of organic greens/ veggies.A few other tidbits: they…See More

I have been vegetarian for most of my life, but I am fairly new to low fat raw vegan. I am loving it! Really enjoying my fruit and greens! I am looking for support, friendship, and encouragement as I make this transition. I feel really great already, just from what I have learned by lurking on the 30bad website. I am eating a ton of fruit. I am trying to eat my greens (I enjoy them most in green smoothies and in Savory Veggie Stews.) I am actually losing my cravings for other foods. My body enjoys fruit when it is hungry now!

I like movies that make me laugh! I just watched the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and thought it was amazing and inspiring! I enjoy reading and learning more about human health. I enjoy exercise - especially yoga! I also enjoy weightlifting, hiking, dancing and swimming.
Durianrider & Freelee started this site to bring together high carb, raw vegan lifestylists' across the Globe! 30bad is a high standard and high performance team! We're here to help you make our team! Let us know what HCRV assistance do you need?
I guess I need assistance in staying HCRV in social situations and traveling, etc. Also help with getting through detoxification. I have a significant amount of acne this week and I can only attribute it to detoxification. It would be nice to be able to get through those times as quickly as possible.

The breakdown for what I ate today came in at exactly 80/10/10!

Posted on February 19, 2013 at 12:13pm 1 Comment

I am excited that I hit the exact 80/10/10 ratio today!  I don't know why I'm so excited... it was just fun to see it guess.  :)  I don't know if I've ever been able to hit 10% protein on raw foods only.  I can usually only get about 5%.

Low White Blood Cell Count - is this normal for raw foodists?

Posted on February 15, 2013 at 12:13am 0 Comments

I just had some routine blood work done.  My white blood cell count is low - 3,000 when it should be at least 4,000.  I've had this happen to me before - it has been as low as 2,000.  I always feel fine, but it seems to scare the doctors to see it so low.  Last time he checked my B12 and folate - I guess if those are low that can cause low WBC too.  They were fine last time he checked.  But maybe the serum test is not accurate as some say, and he should be doing the urine test?  He wants to…

I'm in better shape in my 30's than I was in my 20's!

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 4:30pm 6 Comments

I think I had a heart murmur in my late teens and in my 20's.  I probably still have one, but as I understand it, they can come and go according to stress levels, nutrition, and drug use (caffeine, alcohol, etc.)  I was never diagnosed with a heart murmur, but doctors have heard one from time to time.  In my 20's I never enjoyed cardiovascular exercise because I would get out of breath after about 5 minutes and have to stop.  I even had chest pains sometimes.  Seriously, 5 minutes of jogging…

What are the high-fat raw vegans thinking???

So, I follow Gaiam on Facebook and today they had these recipes from this book Raw Food for Real People.   Their introduction to the article says, "But in case the thought of “cooking” an entire raw meal still seems daunting, we’ve excerpted three easy recipes below for raw appetizers and desserts, just to get you started.  Hilarious, I tell you!  They have a recipe for Cashew Cheese, which…
