Mangos!

Hey Fellow Denverites,I just discovered Alpine Summit Produce Warehouse. (I70 and Havana on 147th)  They have a little store inside. They rarely have organic produce but today they have a special on organic mangos - 12 for $5!  I hope they're good because I bought 24.Some other good deals of non-organic stuff:grape tomatoes - 10 ounce cartons 2/$1pineapples - $2 each or $1 each if you buy 9box of juicing oranges  - $17  delicious, sweet and mellow with none of the strong acid taste. You need to…See More

New Holes

New Holes

I got my ears pierced...for the third time! No, I don't have three holes. I've just let them close up twice. Two people have bought me earrings this year and my hair is shorter so I guess it's time to wear earrings again. I was very nervous, but it really didn't hurt at all.

Becky has a job! She has been looking since moving back to California in May. She'll be working the opening shift at Jamba Juice - 6 AM to 2PM. Early early early for her. But at least she'll have… Continue

What's In Your Frig?

Posted on July 22, 2009 at 1:27pm 1 Comment

There are certain things I never keep in the frig because I don't like the altered taste. Tomatoes are one of them. If they get really soft sitting out on the counter I just make them into soup. I only keep the following in the refrigerator: celery, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, berries, cut melon, spinach, cucumber, and very ripe avocados. Everything else sits on the counter. I have heard some say that they even keep their carrots and celery out in jars of water. You would probably have to change… Continue

Grocery Shopping

I love my new running shoes. My old ones were 14 years old! Don't worry, I only used them for about one year and they sat in my closet the rest of the time. It felt great to not be wearing boxes on my feet as I ran.

Today I went on a typical shopping trip. This food should last me about 5-7 days. Dan will eat some of it, but I will eat most of it. Just in case you're curious:

2 seedless watermelons

1 organic honeydew melon

2 mangoes

8 ears of corn

2… Continue

Which is It?

Posted on July 20, 2009 at 1:35pm 0 Comments

Fat?? Not enough calories?? The last six holes of golf today I felt like falling asleep. I don't know if I had too much fat in the guacamole yesterday or not enough calories for lunch. My big idea today was to eat greens at lunch in a soup so that I could eat a smaller salad with less dressing on it for dinner and make up for the extra fat I had at dinner yesterday. But today dinner came and I still wanted a big salad. And the soup was not very good and probably not enough calories to get me… Continue

Doing the Right Thing

Posted on July 19, 2009 at 12:59pm 0 Comments

I can't believe I am finally able to do the 80-10-10 thing right for the most part. At first I just could not eat only fruit until dinner. I had to have a salad for lunch. Now, I don't even want a salad until dinner.

What has helped the most? I think it is eating large meals and very very little snacking. So I don't have a sweet taste in my mouth all day. I eat a juicy fruit breakfast and don't eat again until lunch. Exercise helps with this. By noon, I then feel like having some… Continue

Debbie - I just saw your message asking me about any 80-10-10 goings on around these parts. As far as I know there isn't, there is a raw group that meets at the Monument library, they are very recipe heavy, it would be fun to have more 811'ers there eating plates of fruit.
