I have been eating 8-1-1 (with some transitions) since Feb 2010. I need support and would like to ask questions about logistics. My husband (a cyclist) introduced me to 811. After reading the book, I was convinced that this was a healthy way to eat. However, we have been avid followers of Dr Mercola and so I am used to pushing meats (protein) and trying to avoid any sugar (even fruit). For me, this diet has answered the question I ask every time I read mercola.com: What the heck do you eat then? No grains, no sugar, no dairy, etc. If the answer is veggies and meat, then why do I feel starved after I eat a meal with tons of veggies and meats?
My husband and I have 5 daughters and we have transitioned them to eating almost all fruit, with occasional treats outside our house. One of our motivations for switching our diet was that one of our daughters has asthma and exzema. As you can imagine, the 2 toughest things about this diet for us is having enough ripe fruit in our house, and (because we have an extended family event every week) the social aspects of the diet.
I have used this forum to answer many questions, but I would like to have my own voice to ask questions and share my experiences.

Reading "The 80-10-10 Diet" by Dr Doug Graham is vital for succeeding on this lifestyle. Please acquire this book as soon as possible.

Well, since you asked....
sever heartburn when I eat avocado (might be a family allergy), finding cheap sources of food for our family of 7, composting ALL that fruit (it smells right now), and how people have handled children and other social aspects. The first 3 months we were very strict. We relaxed a bit, making it a rule that if it is a party or event, they could eat "bad" food. We sometimes include one "cheat" meal per week, but we definitely felt better before we cheated. As you can see, I just want to be able to discuss all of this with others. Thanks!
