My name is Christine. I'm 30 years old and I live in Queensland, Australia. I became vegan a few weeks ago (this is actually my second attempt). It was after watching a documentary called 'Earthlings' that I developed a desire to become vegan. After my first attempt I found that I was extremely lethargic and tired after only a few months, and slowly I went back to my omnivorous diet. I know where I went wrong though. I wasn’t eating nutritional foods. Instead I was eating a lot of bread, potato chips etc. I also found the lifestyle difficult in social and family functions. People don’t seem to like a ‘fussy eater’. Since then I’d been eating a so-called ‘normal’ diet. But every day I’ve lived with a constant guilty feeling, knowing I was living a lifestyle that was not true to my moral beliefs. Therefore I decided I am going to be true to myself and what I believe.. And I am proud to once again, call myself VEGAN!
Not only am I doing it for the animals, but I am doing it for my health. For the past year I have felt unhealthy in general. I lack energy, I never feel like I’ve had enough sleep. I suffer from constant stomach aches (which seem to have actually stopped already since becoming a healthy vegan). I just want to feel ALIVE and healthy, in mind, body and spirit.
Lately I have been watching A LOT of videos on Youtube, looking for healthy vegan recipes. In my searches I came across a lot of “RAW” food videos and discovered some really creative meal ideas using raw-only ingredients. This got me experimenting in the kitchen, which I really enjoyed. I stumbled across the ‘Freelea’ channel and watched quite a few of the videos. I found them really inspiring! Hence how I ended up on the 30 Banana’s a Day website
I have decided that my New Year’s resolution for 2012 is to become a Raw Vegan for 1 year (at least). I need all the information and support I can find. I actually don’t know anyone in my area who is vegan (except my cousin), let alone a raw vegan. It would be great to meet like-minded people.
