Hey, I'm 19 and and am a first year Environmental Science student from North Wales. I have only been vegan technically for 2 weeks (May 2016) (although was a lactose intolerant vegetarian for a year before that). I'm never going back to the 'standard' diet because I came to the vegan lifestyle seeking escape from depression, and a horrible morphed body image, which were rapidly spiralling out of control. I also felt that I couldn't continue to learn about the environmental catastrophes caused by animal agriculture and not do something about it. These last two weeks have been intense, I've lost an absolute ton of weight (well not quite but 6kg!!), I'm learning to enjoy food again, have regained my optimistic, happy view of the world and most importantly have found happiness again. I've got my life back! I really want to share this message, particularly for teenage girls with low self esteem. I had acne a month ago - I have comparison shots dated 07/04/16 and today, 06/05/16. There's a month difference but the real changes only started happening 2 weeks ago; as soon as I made the switch my skin started clearing instantly and now despite some scars it's glowing. I've turned into "that person" that pushes veganism all the time but how can you not once you know so much?? I watched Cowspiracy for the second time a couple of weeks back and didn't make it halfway through before realising I can't keep watching those docs and not be vegan. My mum is now going vegan, too. I actually really give a shit about the planet and want to help/contribute as much as I can to lessening our impact on our environment, and would also love some tips about how to respond to non-vegans' questions aka. where do you get your PROTEIN?? etc... would love to have some good comebacks. I've just started up a 'vegan student' blog where I'm planning on sharing my journey/tips or anecdotes I pick up along the way. Many thanks!

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are....
My favourite hobby is trying to stand up on a surfboard, as well as wildlife photography and having a typical uni social life. I have a lot of favourite authors but by far the most inspiring book I've read to date is The Horse Boy by Rupert Isaacson (amazing true story), and I'd say my favourite film will probably always be Dirty Dancing.
We recommend you purchase Freelee's ebook "Go fruit Yourself!". It is a must-read for newbies to the high carb raw vegan lifestyle.
Durianrider & Freelee started this site to bring together high carb, raw vegan and vegan lifestylists' across the Globe! 30bad is a high standard and high performance team! We're here to help you make our team! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?
I'd love to know what you recommend for someone living in the UK, where seasonal fresh fruits in abundance can be hard to come by. I'm also a uni student so finances are tight, it would be amazing for some help with budgeting and simple student-friendly recipes.
