Chris P. said… Hi again Bethany, great! I'm glad that works for you.
There's always the ideal and then what we can actually do. It's great to shoot for the ideal, but I think as long as you are progressing towards it, you should feel great about that!
Yeah, when living under someone else's roof, it's important to try to respect their wishes and keep things nice and civil! I'd recommend just eating raw vegan on your own and maybe refrain from making any pronouncements about your dietary change etc, at least until you are out on your own. By that time you'll be so glowing/healthy from eating well, that people who may have been "concerned" before, may take notice and even give it a try themselves! :)
Stephane said… Hi,

Chris P. said… Hey Bethany, In case you haven't seen it, here's a link ( http://cronometer.com/ )to a very good food logging program you can use to enter all the food you eat. It will keep track of calories, vitamins, minerals and give you the percentage breakdown by percentage from calories (the right way to keep track). It's especially important in the beginning because people are not used to eating so many calories, and eating so many from fruits and vegetables!
If you have trouble meeting or approaching the goals here for women (2500 cals +/day) you can use dates and bananas which are fairly calorie dense. You may also want to search around using the little search bar in the top right, to look for posts about wholesale produce in the UK.
Alright, I hope you're having a great start! :)
Chris P. said… Hi again :)
Excellent! You could possibly get some detox symptoms, but they shouldn't be too bad if you get enough calories, rest and hydration. When I went raw first, I was eating too few calories and did get some detox. I felt crummy for a week or two, kind of like going through flu season 1/2 sick you know? I felt under the weather but not too bad to function, it just wasn't nice was all. But looking back I suspect a lot of the crumy feeling was due to not well hydrated and not eating enough. I wasn't following 80/10/10 at the time, hadn't heard of it yet, but was low fat just from the food choices I was making. Later on I seemed to have problems when I ate too much fat, mostly in the form of raw nuts I used in some recipes, etc.
I think it's probably best to jump right in, but I always say that the best diet or exercise plan is the one you will do. If you don't feel quite comfortable yet, take your time, but keep reading the information and getting used to eating more of your calories from ripe fruit and greens. I suspect when you cross over to all LFRV you'll really get a nice surprise.
It's just great that you've found this and were open enough to "get it"! :)
P.S. You may want to check that the dandelions you eat aren't sprayed with weed killer or "lawn food". Dandelion greens are really nice though!
Chris P. said… Hi again, I think the original link you had for your facebook page was 2 links together, so when I put one in it was a lady in Virginia, that was the confusion, but it makes sense now.
Hey, I was reading your profile info and I think that if you can, it's best to jump in with both feet. Some people try to transition in but have a hard time because the old food keeps calling. One of the keys is getting enough calories.
Your smoothie sounded good! One thing I sometimes like to do is add a few dates to make them really sweet, like having a shake. :)
