Bart M said… Hey Audrey, It's been a couple of weeks since you suggested zinc supplementation to increase appetite, and I figured I'd check in and see how you're doing. Have you had any luck with increasing appetite with Zinc? Any other positive or negative results? I'd love to hear about your experience.
Thanks!

Michel said… Hi Audrey, thanks for your message, yes, I really feel like there is no need to label every single auto-immune disease with a different name, even if their particular symptoms are a bit specific, as this contributes to keeping what Doug calls the "fragmented view of health"... It is so much better to study/understand the actual causes of the diseases, and when you do this you realize how similar all the auto-immune diseases are, and their similarity is quite striking... There tends to be many common characteristics in the mindset of people subject to these diseases actually - usually they are very active, they like challenges and are able to go the extra-mile, they live too much within their brain to the point they may lose the feeling of their bodies, and the consequences of this is that they are stressed and lack sleep and rest... Are you suffering yourself from an auto-immune disease or are you in contact with such people?

As others have said, it happens very frequently. I think that when it is done it does more harm than good. I didn't find your post controversial in the slightest, but when I read the title I did wonder where you were going with it. However, I don't agree with it being changed. I think most of the mods are hyper-vigilant about any talk or reference to "needing less calories" in any way whatsoever, but I think it is better to talk about these things in the open without censorship. And yes, it is particularly frustrating in your case because, in my mind, you were looking for more theories or "proof' about needing more calories than one is used to eating or is recommended on SAD diets, which I think would only help convince others who don't eat enough that it is okay to eat more.
I think the moderators, instead of changing what people are saying, would be better off demonstrating how to engage in dialogue. Maybe ask why you phrased the title the way you did or whether you think if others read the title would they think you were restricting calories (or advocating it). In real life, we can't change what people say if we don't like what they say about this diet, but merely can ask them questions and state our case in response. It would be nice to have a model for that on this forum and not engage in actions that just seem to piss people off and detract from discussion about diet.

Cool, yeah I'd be down for a meetup at some point. I'm still a total n00b, but I guess that's a good thing, I need some supportive influences. Similar situation my wife is 99% vegan, kinda into raw but not nearly as much as me. I'm recently vegan, eating 70% raw but burritos and chinese food have been tough to let go.
There are some raw meetups on meetup.com I think I might check one of those out. Might be easier to do than rallying the 6 people we have on 30BAD.

I saw that many of your moles had dissapered and schrinked during your time eating this way. That is SICKENING cool news for me since i have always looked for a way to remove them naturally. Would be great if you could explain some more to me what happend. I added you as a friend so you can send it as a private message if you want.
