I went to the Asian market local (Houston) to me yesterday and they had a huge selection of tropical fruit. I was superexcited to see they had fresh whole jackfruit (I paid about $17) and frozen…Continue

I am finally out of the first trimester of pregnancy and although I fell off the wagon significantly for a few weeks there, I still managed to make most of my meals all fruit. I'm trying to stay positive and focused here... Anyhow, last weekend I went home for the weekend and our neighbors have an orange, grapefruit, and 2 different varieties lemon trees. They never pick the fruit and it usually falls to the ground and rots. Every winter I usually get a few pieces, but this weekend when I…

I couldn't understand why for the past week I was craving rice and pasta like crazy! I was getting a minimum of 2600 calories a day, and still desperately wanting anything starchy with tomatoe sauce. I found out I am 4 weeks pregnant yesterday and am beginning to suspect that is why the cravings were so strong, maybe I need to take in a lot more calories to prepare my body for pregnancy? The cool thing is that I will get to see how eating a fruit based diet makes me feel compared to how I…

I finally checked my mailbox yesterday and there was The 80/10/10 Diet waiting for me. I was so excited I immediately started reading it and have completed all the chapters and am working through the appendixes. Whenever I read a book for informational purposes I like to read it from cover to cover first and then go back and re-read the most compelling parts multiple times.
Anyway, before getting this book I though I could…

bronwyn said… Dear Angela,
thank you. 30bad suggests we crave cooked foods because we're not getting enough calories. That may be true for some, if they're undereating. However, the book we're supposed to have read and follow is Dr.Graham's 80-10-10 who suggests very specific calorie consumption for one's height, weight and energy expenditure. ,Dr.Graham's wife, Rozalind Gruben, explains cravings for cooked food as a desire for an emotional analgesic. Cooked food allows one to not feel emotions as deeply. When someone begins 80-10-10, one can find the shock of feeling emotions so deeply very uncomfortable and they thus crave heavier, cooked foods to block those feelings. If you want a second opinion on any 80-10-10 matter, you can ask Dr. Graham at http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/index.html
With love, Bronwyn
Hey Angela! No, it wasn't me who suggested 30bad, but I'm glad I found it too =) I actually start 811 tomorrow..whew i'm ready! And my book should be here soon..so hopefully we can encourage each other! Well take care, talk to ya soon
