I have been vegan/vegetarian/raw on and off since 1981. Currently I am mostly vegan, which is a bit like being mostly pregnant I suppose. I find I need a support system for my life and an eating style to help me stay with it. I am passionate about authenticity and I help people find their life purpose (www.andibrand.com if you want to know more.) I believe that a proper raw diet brings a stability and an ability to make grounded decisions in my life. But as I stated before, I don't feel I have the support needed to keep it together. I have read most of the books, including 80-10-10. At first, that many bananas seemed a wild idea. But here in SA they are plentiful, as are mangoes and papayas and I can honestly say that fruit is my favourite food. I would love to have the commitment to stand up and say I am a healthy raw vegan and this is why. In my coaching practice people often need advice in getting healthier and having more energy and even though I am not a health coach, I teach them to make a green smoothie for example, and it helps them.

I want to commit to a lifestyle that brings me excellent health. To be honest, committing to any eating regime has been difficult for me, mostly because there is very little support around me. What is motivating me now to get more serious about it is that I have had some chronic health issues and I am feeling somewhat desperate to heal myself. Fruit makes sense to me, it is my favourite food and I don't enjoy cooking. I read 80-10-10 a few years ago. It seemed radical so I didn't try it, even though I was mainly raw at the time. I like the exercise component in this way of life. So many raw foodists don't seem to understand the importance of being fit. When I was mostly raw I could climb and walk for longer and faster. Aside from all of this, killing animals for any reason just doesn't make sense.
