Back for another go! Weight down, power up!

Hi everyone. First of all thank you to all those who supported me in my attempt to get on the HCRV lifestyle when I was visiting this site a few months back. Despite this support I failed miserably. However, I'm back to try again - my aim is to eat as close to 80/10/10 as possible. I'll be eating as much fruit as possible but also potatoes/rice and vegetables in absence of the fruit. My fitness is fairly decent, my resting heart rate is 55 which I think is quite good? However I'm currently…See More

I was a fit teenager, an example to others; my energy and zest for life was phenomenal. I used to relish any chance to challenge myself and really did make the most of everyday. However as I reached my twenties I completely lost track, spent a couple of years eating junk food and became a total layabout who could barely run around the block. Everything suffered, I felt lethargic, my mental clarity and natural wit were disappearing and I knew I had to change before things got worse. I decided to get fit again and looked to the bodybuilding world, I started on the high protein, high animal products diets that they promoted, complete with all the supplements to boot. The only thing that got leaner was my wallet and I was concerned about the amount of protein and animal products I was eating, I guess I knew in my heart it was wrong. I saw one of my friends switch to a vegetarian diet and his health and fitness just seemed to soar dramatically so I started thinking there might be something to it. I started doing a bit of research and stumbled across Skinny Bastard, after reading I was convinced a vegan diet was the way to go and as I was furthering my research I found Durianriders videos on YouTube. Here was a guy doing the things I want to do, running fast, cycling fast and as lean as they come. I started trawling through all of his videos and explored the principles he advocated, bought 80/10/10 by Doug Graham and found this site. So far I'm back running and cycling, making patient progress and I'm eating a whole lot more fruit than I used to! I'm not quite fully on the programme yet but I'm almost there....watch this space?

Just starting out on the HCRV journey, need a place to make myself accountable and be inspired to stay focused and not to stray and give in to temptations. Hoping that 30bad will also help me to educate myself further and be able to support others in my position.
I'm pretty much meat and dairy free now and I am hitting the fruit big style during the day but I still have major cravings for fatty/salty junk food and I find it hard to get through days without feeling really tired. The daytime is usually fine but by late afternoon I am always tired and starting to have cravings. I'm trying to eat a HCRV breakfast and lunch and a McDougall style meal for dinner but I'm struggling to eat the quantities of food required...I'm hoping it is just a case of my body needing time to adjust and I try and do better each day.
30bad is a HCRV (high carb, raw vegan) internet community which promotes a high carb raw lifestyle free of any animal products. Our forum does not tolerate encouragement of anything contrary to HCRV. hey adam, great to meet you. reading threw your about page, if you've got cravings, for me at least, its because you ( I ) havn't ate enough. in terms of getting enough fruit i found this alot easyer once i was using a blender. ten bananas and... down the hatch, 1000 cal at least! ;) - if a blender isn't an option i often go for mashed bananas and... with lime juice.  dont know what ou were like at craming food in before you were vegan, if im honest this was never an issue for me!! ..so nor is it really now! however what i said above really helps. - there are not meny of us about are there?!! more all the time though! http://www.30bananasaday.com/profile/StuartPorter

regards, james :)
