Wow, I didn't know that. That makes it so much better & makes me kind excited to do it more, YEeeey!. :o)
Comment by Alena on May 26, 2012 at 6:00am YES, in this case I'd say learn the basics from youtube or dvds. there are a few basic poses thats best to know. and then you can go to the more dynamic classes. i like the every dynamic/"break a sweat" styles because the relaxation after a class is better for me. the moves are meant to harmonize your nervous system.
Comment by Kimber on May 26, 2012 at 5:56am Thanks Alena,
So far, I have just used Youtube videos for yoga routines and I have only found one that I really like because it makes me feel so relaxed after but I also feel like a had a little work out too. The video does say it's Hatha yoga (for shoulders & neck it says in the video title). I'm going to search for more Hatha videos for more of the work out routines and then hopefully when I'm more limber I can switch to Vinyasa. I certainly need a boot camp since I'm trying to lose weight right now too.
Thanks again :o)
Comment by Alena on May 26, 2012 at 5:13am hey Kimber. if you prefer more dynamic things, that are closer to bootcamp -then go for power yoga, vinyasa yoga.
ashtanga is very dynamic, disciplined, structured yet fun. very spiritual.
hatha is a general therm for many styles but it can be a bit slower and easier for beginners depending on instructor.
bikram is the hot yoga so avoid in the beginning.
ienegar yoga is slow and holds every pose in a particular alignment for a long time. more restorative and for healing from injuries. also it might get to feel boring if you are a dynamic person.
so basically there is a style for you. you just have to try a few teachers and styles and you will know if its for you or not pretty much after the first 2-3 times.

Comment by Kimber on May 25, 2012 at 8:44pm Hi Alena,
This is a beautiful pose. I have heard the names of different types of yoga styles like Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bikram. I don't really know the difference between them. What type would you recommend to a beginner who is not yet that flexible?
Thanks for any guidance you can give me. Hope you have a beautiful day.
Kimber :o)
