Dr. G and 30bad both use different calculations for different situations.  The both agree that for women who are not athletes, the minimum amount of calories would start at 2000.  I agree with this.  Then you would add calories for your exercise and any other activity beyond just laying in bed.  So, the range would probably be for you with your BMR that I would guess would be about 1700, around 2400 calories a day.  Just a rough estimate.

 

Do the island and make sure you are drinking tons of water.  Let me know how you are doing.  For me mono-fruit isn't interesting.

Yeah, calories confuse me.. if I count based on 10g of carbs per kilo, then I'm still undereating.. if I look at Dr. G's calculations than I think I'm overeating.. no clue what I should be eating, but I am 5'7 and 195lbs with sitting jobs and only 30min exercise a day..  I am doing banana island starting tomorrow, not sure how long, but I'm looking to  hit a reset button: cleanse from salt, up my water, up exercise, up sleep.  Just switched to a part time on one of my jobs, so I have a little more time freed up to do more stuff ;)

Hey K girl regarding the amount of calories that you are consuming.  I am not going to train at this point to walk a 1/2 marathon this year.  I'm waiting until next year.  Therefore, I am happy to say, I am dropping my calories down to my old average of 2200 per day, which is wonderful.  I was feeling forced to eat more when my body said NO! 

 

Have you calculated what your calories should be?  You may also be eating too much.  Just a thought.

This is really common after a period of calorie restriction.  Your juice fast was a long period of major calorie restriction.  You are lucky you only gained 10 pounds because many people have described gaining a lot more.  Just keep going.  It may take a long time for your body to balance everything out, but it will happen.

As for consuming mango skins... mango sap has an irritating compound in it which causes a poison ivy-like rash.  It is common for there to be some sap on the skin.  I would be very cautious about consuming mango skins or using them as shampoo!  I have had the mango rash and it was itchy and painful and something I would never want to repeat.

Sunshine, haha a good one ;) These were actually way over ripened skins.  I know some people love mango skins, I seem to be too sensitive to them, so I don't eat them, but they work great on my hair..  and the water I rinsed this with went into my yard, so no waste there ;).

nope, no cheating here, exercising few times a week, did 10 days no overts and went up another 2 lbs last month ..  Eating 2700-3500ccals a day, stuffing my face with as much fruit as possible, getting my greens in ..  it's been 3 months sense I juice feasted, so I figured I'd start losing by now.  My breakdown is usually 90/5/5, but I added overts back in now, so 2 days a week it's 80/10/10.  After 10 days no overts I got very strong cravings for greasy foods, haven't had any cravings in 6 months, so it sort of scared me and I added a bit of overts back in, it stopped the cravings, so perhaps I still need those. I drink plenty of water too ..  I can see it in my face that it's changing and I look like I might be loosing some fat, but my weight has gotten from 185lbs back to 195lbs now, although I don't really worry too much about it I am definitely puzzled..

May I ask what your average calories are?  What is your average 80/10/10 breakdown?  Are you exercising? I think you mentioned you were back at it.  Are you tracking daily using Cron-o-meter?  I hope so.    You do look fabulous!

Thanks, Karen.. but no I haven't lost any more weight, In fact I went up almost 10lbs after the juice feast  and haven't been able to lose any weight in 3 months now, but I think I am melting some fat.. perhaps replacing it with water.. no idea what is going on with my body , but I'm sticking to 811:)
