30 Bananas a Day!

An other nice sunny Wednesday here in The Netherlands. Had a posetech running technique course today in The Hague and had a great time (learned a lot of tricks). Afterwards I went to the beach with a friend that lived nearby so this weekly picture had a bit of a delay in sharing.

I am still eating my way through my stock of banana's and mango's from last weeks.

This week I got a box of clementines, bananas, strawberries, tomatoes and grapes! Four cantaloupe melons, four butterhead lettuces and two cucumbers.

I also restocked on flaxseed’s (omega3 fatty acids) for in my banana smoothies.

I am planning on making dr-fuhrmans-eat-to-live soup. So I got some green split peas, cashew nuts, carrots, zucchinis, celery, unions, parsley, leeks, mushroom and some potatoes just in case.

Sadly non of the fruits where organic this week.

@Maaike got the produce at my local market (small village) with good communication with the grocer. I am going to look for an other supplier, especially for organic sweet fruits. Probably will checkout the marketplace in Rotterdam someday.

@Alexis What city are you visiting? I think its best to avoid every food store and supermarket in the Netherlands. There are local markets in almost every town, they just ain't there every day, so you need to do some research on where and when you can buy fruit on a market in that specific city. Send me a message if you want some help (most info will be Dutch).

@Sunshine yup unions, I have not yet read any science paper about them being toxic when eaten raw or cooked, it seems Dr Fuhrman thinks they are very healthy, see this article. I also read negative things about unions:

Contain toxic acids and alkaloids that irritate tissues and harmfully excite nerve endings. These foods are eaten only for the abusive thrill reaction they force upon the body, reactions which are easily mistaken as “energizing” the body, when in reality the body is losing its energy stores and creating unnecessary metabolic waste as it eliminates the offending substances. Best completely avoided, even in transition.

So I really don't know what to think about them... :) (help :D)

@Max about 110 Euro (146 U.S. dollars) this week, somehow the clementines where pricey (25euro) and the banana's are still 25 Euro for a box. I need to find a new supplier if that continues. Its nice to see things like potatoes and split beans to be very cheap, so people can live a low vat vegan diet on a budget if they need to.
