Hello all!! My blender broke!! (Ohhh nooo!!!!) and I need a new one. I can't afford to buy a Blendtec or Vitamix here. (In fact, I am shocked and pissed off at the difference in price between here and the USA for the same blender!) so they are both waaaayyy out of my price range! Does anyone know of an excellent blender for around €200? I've heard the Kitchen Aid is pretty good, but loud. But will it crush ice and make banana ice cream?  (cuz that's probably what killed my last blender.) but i just LOVE my 'nana ice cream, life just ain't worth living without it!! <3

Hallo people,
I live in Vienna and also looking for organic fruit supply possibilities. That is why I adressed myself to a local organic fruit an vegiies supplier Adamah http://adamah.at (who have a Fruit basket ddelievered weekly to your home, and most of its content is good, but some fruits get bad before they get ripe) and asked them if it coould be possible to get ripe fruits. They said it is an interesting challenge for them and asked me if I know how big the demand in Vienna coul be. I think, they would not do it only for me, but if we are more people, they definitely would! Please, have a look at their homepage http://adamah.at/ and the prices and let me know, what do you think about it. Have a wonderfull sunny day! xx

Hey Olive! I'd love to meet up sometime in October. I live in Linz (about two hours drive away) so I need some notice. anyone else interested? I found these links on the internet looking of fruit in Austria and the german speaking world:

It's not fancy, but I do a lot of my shopping at Hofer actually.  We live above one in our same building, so it's super convenient for me. Sadly, they have only limited organic produce so I have to shop around at other places too.  But Hofer's prices are good, like, this morning I got a butt load of bananas @ 64 cents per kilo - i think that's a pretty good price.

Hi peeps, i moved to Vienna 2 months ago, and i am determined to make this lifestyle work for me here as well :)  Brunnenmarkt is a good address, i hear Saturdays they give stuff away for really cheap. And there is supposed to be a nice wholesaler, which i will hear more about within the next couple of days. I will certainly post the info here! Oh yes, and let's do a potluck soon, before the winter starts. Who would be in for October?

HI Liza M!

That my friend, is a very good question! I don't live in Vienna so I don't really know. In Linz, where I live, I find the best produce in various Turkish markets and supermarkets. I supplement that with cheap stuff from Hofer - but that often takes days to ripen so plan in advance! Also, If you have a car, I've had great luck visiting local farmers - right now is kurbis season and you can get them for super cheap direct at the farm. Often they just leave a pile of them with a locked cash box to put some coins in :D.

Somewhere in my sea of saved emails is a list of German and Austrian food wholesalers... when I find it I'll forward it to you. (Cuz I sure would like to have a box or two of bananas sent my way for cheap.)
