It seems hard for me to fill my calorie quota of the day. I was thinking that eating 1/2 of my calories from medjool dates could help since they are more compact. But is that not healthy to eat so many everyday since they have a lot of sugar? Or does it not matter as long as I am getting in the calories? Thanks!!

I have same challenge, but from what I have learned so far, I think your are lucky if you like them enough to eat lots. My understanding is that you are on the right track, they have no fat, low protein, high fruit sugar and carbs, exactly what the Dr ordered. The attraction is that they are in a small package and lots of people really like them. Only problem I can see, with this inexperienced eye would be the one thing they don't provide and that is fluid (since they're dried), you would have to make sure you get a lot of fluid from your other fruit and drinking water. Oh and don't be concerned about 'too much sugar' my understanding is that intake of 'fruit sugar' the good sugar, is virtually limitless. Unfortunately I don't like them enough :( Look forward to more experienced comment on this. Good line of question Jaime.

Hello Jaime and hello Kerryn,
First I will answer Jaime: Listen to your own body and taste receptors. Learn to be more in your body and less in your head. Experiment. Feel the energy and clarity the food is providing for you. Spend time outside in sunlight. Make sure you are hydrating. We (all) also need to play/exercise/workout every day, in some way. Being as children again. Try to be mindful to not turn LFHCRV into a head trip. Have fun. Smile. Relax. If you want to consume more, then make yourself fruit smoothies. And remember, green juice is also an amazing source of nutrients.
Hello Kerryn, I love your reply to Jaime. You are quite correct in everything you said. The fruit consumption with high water content is extremely necessary.

what helps me at times is making a smoothy out of as many bananas as you feel comfortable with (i.e. 3 or 5 bananas with water) and adding enough dates to get your desired calories for the meal (i.e. adding 10 to 12 medjools soaked in water the previous night, along with soaking water). I was able to get a 1000 calorie drink in about maybe 7 or 8 cups total volume (I don't like it too thick).
Permalink Reply by Jennifer C on February 26, 2012 at 2:20pm I'm doing something similar, but I'm only up to three bananas at a time so far. Struggling to be hungry enough to eat enough calories, but since I usually eat 800-1000 (regular vegan-- not restrictive on purpose-- just not hungry), I know it will take me a while to get the calorie count up!
Permalink Reply by Jem on February 27, 2012 at 4:33am Practice makes perfect! I got up to 2500 cals yesterday for the first time. It was hard though because my stomach isn't used to it! Good luck to you:)
Permalink Reply by Jennifer C on February 28, 2012 at 12:09pm Thanks! I'm really struggling. I'm eating enough to get a little poochy belly, but not enough to even come close to my quota.

Thanks- you all posted some great information. I do very well during the day. I have been eating enough however my problem comes in at dinnertime. I have horrible cravings for dang nasty cooked food. I feel like I need a good recipe for salad dressing. I love my salads but they are not good without a good dressing. Any ideas? Also, what do you all eat for dinner???
