Hey runners!I am in week 2/18 marathon training and run 5 days this week total of 15 miles.  My back hurts a little bit but overall feeling ok just a little more tired than usual.  For last 10 months my avg mileage was 7 miles/week so this is a big jump in mileage for me.  Oddly enough I have a loss of appetite this week... Is this a bad sign? Should I force myself to get calories in? I don't want to overtrain or get sick/hurt or want my performance to suffer.... I'd appreciate any advice for a first time marathon trainer! :)

I can relate, Josh!!! I'm not sure wether its a detox thing or what but I always feel like I'm huffing and puffing... like I'm the lamest runner ever! My speed has really taken a blow and I have pretty much given up on getting a PR for my half marathon this weekend. So frustrating... Really wanted to be able to tell everyone how much my LFRV diet has helped my performance, not hindered it :/

Just ran a 5km tempo at 188 avg hr. Took 10min off a very similar run about a month ago.

Seems like training is going alright, haha.

Legs feel pretty good, think the heart and lungs held me back a bit.

Any tips on rectifying this?

After training exclusively at a slower aerobic heart rate for the last 3 1/2 months to build a much needed endurance base, I just ran a 5k to see how the training has worked. I did no tempo runs, no speed work; just consistent long slow runs. I had been stuck in the 24 minute range for months but I just ran my personal best yet of 23:23. Here's what I learned about slowing down in order to get faster.
