Does anyone use a CSA service they recommend? I live close to whole foods but don't think the fruit is always local or the best price. I usually go the the Embarcadero farmer's market on Saturdays.…Continue

I need a housesitter and cat caretaker for a week - June 30 to July 7 (dates are slightly flexible).  I live in the Santa Cruz mountains - 20 min from downtown Santa Cruz in a town called Lompico.  Benefits to being here are that it's a redwood forest paradise as pristine as it gets with an amazing lake and hiking trails minutes away.  If there are any travelers around, or city people wanting a retreat, please get in touch with me!  e3rain at gmail dot com.

Hey all, I don't know the details exactly yet but July 10th (date is confirmed) there's gonna be a big 811 event through the East Bay raw meetup group on meetup (which is kinda typical gourmet raw type community). Laurie Masters (editor 80/10/10!) is organizing the event, and speakers include myself, Rick and Karen Dina, Robby Barbaro, and more. I'll post a thread once I know all the details!

Hey there everyone! I am visiting in Berkeley and would love to meet up with people and get connected. I just came from Thailand and was with some raw foodies there! Got some great stories to tell about the durian festival! Im looking for a place to stay and to get around town and see some sustainable sites. Any help is greatly appreciated! Bliss!

Not sure, I haven't been there in several weeks. You could come up for the fruit party tomorrow though! Check out the thread.

Berkeley Bowl - worth the trip these days? It's kind of an all-day Caltrain / BART adventure for me, which would be a fun weekend excursion for me and the tot, but I kind of want to go when they have stuff that I can't get here at Milk Pail or at the Farmer's Market. Anything exciting there these days that's not widely available?

Josh & ddddave, thanks much for the info/opinions.  Think I heard Berkeley/San Fran area has the largest indoor produce market too... awesome.  Super sunny beaches in walk/bus/subway distance may require a city further south?  San Diego?  Santa Cruz?  Sigh, Cali is so huge & full of "Sans" & "Santas" & confuses me.  K, done hijacking this thread for my own purposes... thx all, ttyl :)
