Hey Fruitman

Here is a couple of ashtanga teachers travelling. At the moment they are in Phuket, Thailand. The guy is from Brazil so that might interest you.

Tara Fraser - The Easy Yoga Workbook is good - comes with a CD you just listen to and takes you through the poses (22) and the book has good pictures of the poses too - also includes a brief relaxation/meditation part at the end.

Hi NM, thanks.

All the "traveling teachers" seem to concentrate at the other side of the globe. No one in Americas.

But there is a link to a nice Ashtanga forum so maybe that's where I'll have more luck.

Are there any job centres for yogis? ;-)

Hi guys,

Can someone please help me and advise if there are any websites where yoga teachers are advertising their services and/or looking for work?

I have work for a teacher but the problem is that the location for it is in Brazil and that person has to speak English and at least be interested in a healthy lifestyle.

Any ideas?

The difference between pilates and yoga is subtle yet very different. You can think of Pilates mat class as a vinyasa yoga flow class. It's fluid, seamless, invigorating with focus on core strength. The breath work is very specific and focuses on activating the deepest core muscle groups for spinal health, postural and all over bony alignment vs. a more yoga diaphramatic pranayama. Pilates also doesn't have the spiritual aspect and philosophy of yoga. As a pilates instructor and avid yoga practictioner what I love about pilates is the attention to detail, flow, breath patterns, choreography, and dynamics. I love the meditative mindful aspect of yoga and incorporate it into my sessions with clients. They both target the mind, body and spirit, just from different angles. Of course it all depends on what type of yoga you enjoy. Restorative yoga and a traditional pilates mat class are very different!!! One meant to restore, the other meant to strengthen and invigorate the entire body. Pilates also has seven different machines that build your awareness and strength in a variety of ways. I talk a lot about the differences on my blog Epicself.com. check it out and hope this helps!
