Hi everyone,
Just wanted to start off a discussion about haircare. I have been using several ways to clean my hair over the years and have invented many 100% natural recipes.
One of my favourites is a 'mud shampoo'. Yeah that's right I wash my hair with mud!
Check out the recipe and info in my blog post here Mud Shampoo

Permalink Reply by Star Khechara on August 8, 2011 at 10:01pm No worries. Just a word of wanring, the herb in the recipe Shikakkai, does slightly darken the hair which is great for me as a brunette but I see that you are blonde in your pic. You can try it anyway, but just to let you know :-)

I gave up processed soaps and moisturisers some time ago - have been using water and coconut oil to great effect but shampoo has been a problem. This looks like a good solution - thanks!! I have lightened my hair (to combat the grey), will these clays/herbs be OK do you think?
Permalink Reply by Star Khechara on August 9, 2011 at 9:50pm Hi VV,
The Shikkakai actually slightly darkens hair so if you've gone lighter you may not want to use it. You can just make a slurry with the clay and use that instead :-)

Thanks Star,
I'll probably go darker again in the winter so could use Shikkakai then. Meanwhile, some of their other herbs/clays look good to mix with Rassoul clay - thanks, too, for the link to SheaButter Cottage, just what I'd been looking for.
Permalink Reply by Kalee Chandra on June 8, 2012 at 12:20pm How do I make or find the recipe Shikakkai for washing the hair. Never heard of it before and would like to find a natural way of washing my hair. It is very dry and has become very fine since eating raw and I can do nothing with it it would not hold curl even though it is naturally curly it just sticks out everywhere. I need some help quick before I cut it off just when I am trying to grow it.
