Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting hair-extensions because my hair has never been able to grow past the upper-half of my back and EVERY TIME, the ends of my hair become split ends. I'd really like longer and thicker hair.
As a kid I was forced to have my hair cut really short and I always hated how I looked with it.
I'm sorry if this post is superficial and if I appear hypocritical by posting this. But I can't hide that this matter is something that's been bothering me. I have nothing against short hair - some people look very good with short hair, but I personally was always unhappy with it.
I eventually want to be completely free of shampoos/conditioners because I've been reading of successful people here who live without those things and have thicker and faster-growing hair as a result. I want to be one of those people too. I wouldn't be surprised if my shampoo and conditioner (even though they're vegan with mostly natural herbs as ingredients).
I know I need to get the split-ends cut/trimmed and want to have good and harmless hair extensions, until my hair grows again. Does anyone here have experience with hair extensions, tressen, or weaving? If so, please tell me what method(s) you've used as well as naming the pros and cons.
Many thanks
PS: I posted the same post HERE.

Permalink Reply by Poodle Doodle Doo on June 29, 2012 at 3:43pm I am right there with you on the long hair! My hair is growing in nicely bc of diet, natural products, etc but the bottom half of my hair is limp and sad, and it feels like it is taking forevvvverrrr to grow out those last few inches. Mine's only down to my armpits.
But enough with the commiserating: I think it's like, practically a fact that biotin/B7 will make your hair grow faster. There's like 8 million testimonials on the internet, and I have a friend this worked for in real life. BUT-- for some people, it causes acne. I don't know why. Check it out, some people it makes skin better, for others it causes breakouts. I'm already trying to clear up some skin stuff, so when I took biotin for like 3 days and I had a few zits, I stopped. I won't try again until my skin is completely clear. If you have good skin, try biotin and please post back about how it turns out!
Sorry I'm rambling on about vitamins and can't offer advice on extensions-- in my experience, weave always looks like crap and it's embarrassing to see people with weave. If you don't want to spend $400-$600, I think you're going to be looking at some fake-looking stuff. If you find something cheaper that looks good and doesn't use glue, heck, lmk too! I'm curious. Good luck, Athena.

you speak from my soul! The bottom part of my hair is also limp, dead, and split. It's not pretty, but (to me) neither is shorter hair. Your hair is about as long as mine.
Actually I normally nowadays wouldn't take supplements, unless I were deficient (have yet to test myself though...). What vegan versions of B7 do you know of? Though I can also research that... My skin is okay I think. Only my forehead still seems to have a problem with a bit of dry skin although I drink 2-3 liters of water a day (sometimes much more).
Thanks for your advice. I know already that the use of glue is a no-no.
