Hey everyone
Just wanted to share what I think the best dateorade is:
I've ordered lots of dates from Bautista these past weeks and tried 4 of the dates, which are
-Khadrawi
-Halawi
-Deglet noor
-Honey Dates
I think Halawi, by far, makes the best dateorade for a caramel "hot" chocolate-like replication. It's probably better than the SAD chocolate milkshakes that you can buy.
Deglet Noors taste really good straight up, but they're very semi-dry and don't blend as well as the moist dates, which all the rest are.
Honey dates, I would say, are second and khadrawi third. You would probably like khadrawi if you like dark chocolate. Me, I don't like khadrawi too much.
To make dateorade, all you need are the dates and water
You add as much water as you want the consistency
If you want it very thick, you add less water or more dates
If thinner, you add more water or less dates

For months, I've been planning to make datorade and it still hasn't happened :) They taste so meaty and satisfying just the way they are.... Oh, well.
Thanks for posting this. I plan to order from them and have been wondering about the Halawi dates. Do they taste like caramel eaten whole? Are they very soft?
