Ahh yes, new generation produce. The place I've always wanted to go but never wanted to drive 5 hours to get to.

Hey folks, glad to see people are still joining this group. CT is boring so we don't have much to talk about but spring is (maybe?) around the corner. I hope to finally get my butt over to New Generation this spring.

The amount of purely inedible food was astounding this time around.

There was this cashew ranch dressing that had so much garlic it tasted like a chemical weapon.

Yo guys I got the DL on some pears

Bosc pears from High Hill Orchard in Meriden ("ecologically grown" which means "I'm a small farmer and don't feel like paying $3000 for organic certification) $1.49/lb. at Willimantic Food Coop - it's the end of the season so if you go directly to the orchard in Meriden you can probably get them even cheaper esp. if you ask for seconds.

Oh yeah, and the willi coop also has been selling their ripe organic bananas for 49c/lb. Today they had almost half a case for sale for that price - that's better than wholesale and it's roughly equal to the wholesale price of conventional nanners.
