I get more than I need, I can give away, trade, or even barter with the extras. I will not turn you away if you cannot trade or barter, I care MOST about good food finding a good home!Continue

About donating. For me it's easy, I know that many people who 'live" of their diving, this makes them eat many meat as well. They normally can't afford or would not buy meat in the shop but now they eat it because they found it and otherwise it's going to "waste". I don't give anyone this stuff I don't even bring it home..In the past we gave it to the dog but then she started puking everytime she had meat from dive so now that's over :)
But things like bread, oil, alcohol and cookies(pastry) I would bring home and if not eaten by my bf I would sertainly donate it..if it's not too nasty.
Comment by Dylan Meditates on May 31, 2012 at 3:25am great inquiry tania, in my opinion, you should keep giving your non-LFRV finds to the pantry. you won't be changing anyone's eating habits by not donating, and in the meantime you can rest assured that you aren't creating any extra demand (since it comes from the waste anyways!).
i'd love to hear some rhetoric from the other side of the issue though.
Comment by HolisticHealthDetective on May 30, 2012 at 11:16am I didn't get picts of last night's dive, but I thought it deserved a mention. = )
Seems 8 was a good number:
*8 champagne mangos
*8 pints of strawberries
*8 organic bananas
*8 minutes of dive time (well, I don't know if that's true..sounded cool though!)
We also got a 1/2 pint of blueberries which our little girl decided wasn't share-worthy.
And I rescued 2 large chocolate birthday cakes and about 9 large coffee cakes which I dropped off at the pantry today. Sometimes I wonder at my activism of donating food I not only would never eat but I don't think anyone should. Any thoughts?

Comment by HolisticHealthDetective on May 29, 2012 at 6:09am Hey Alison, I didn't think to ask--what food did you find from your dives while out with the Occupy folks?
Comment by HolisticHealthDetective on May 25, 2012 at 8:31am Very cool Alison! I hope you get a food rescue co-op rockin' and rollin' out there!

Comment by HolisticHealthDetective on May 19, 2012 at 9:02am Dylan--very nice video. Thanks for the inspiration. Also, nice dinner!
Any other nice finds recently?
Comment by HolisticHealthDetective on May 19, 2012 at 9:00am Hey, I'd like to send a big welcome out to all of you newcomers who have recently joined the Divers group! I'm so thrilled that more and more people are recognizing the human need to rescue food from an otherwise terrible fate.
Since there are so many of us from different parts of the globe, this is really great news. That means we can keep the movement growing and spreading out, and increase awareness and education about food waste.
Also, for any folks recently coming here, I'd love to hear your personal story and what's up in your diving wold. = )
May All Be Fed!

Comment by Dylan Meditates on May 4, 2012 at 10:02pm kept hearing about everyone's dives and seeing such great results, and on my first try got great results. i made a video/song about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-KU45wiPWo
Comment by Mary Elizabeth on May 3, 2012 at 10:45am Hi HHD!
I DO DO DO DO want to meet more divers! I have been asking around all over the place and there are very few people who are interested from what I see.
Thanks for the props! I am working on finding a shelter/ pantry that will take some of this fruit. Of course, I guess I'd have to clear it with the manager at Stanley's. I think I need to prepare some legal paperwork for him to look over, so he knows that he won't get sued.
Any tips?
