Here is a pic of my latest dived goodies! I did not pay for ANYTHING on here, except for about 3 oranges. Most of it is from WF Market, from a friend who snags what they throw away before they do. Also, the beauty products I got out of a dumpster outside of WF Market, gave some to friends and gave away the rest on Freecycle.org. I think it is time for those of you who are apprehensive about this lifestyle to try it out. What has been especially helpful is making a friend at WF. He has gotten me most of fruit and veggies, which are almost all organic. Even if you don't make friend or acquaintances with someone who works at a local supermarket, it is worth the effort to just peek into the dumpsters or back alleys of them. You may find that there is a ton of stuff that you don't even have to ask for. I am eating like a QUEEN fr FREE! It is epic! I still have money trouble, but when you don't have to choose between living this raw vegan lifestyle and rent, life is SWEET!! (pun intended)

Permalink Reply by HolisticHealthDetective on May 25, 2012 at 10:13am Well, there are plenty of folks around here to help you with that. It's really so much easier than we always think at first. If you can imagine getting 5 x's what you could pay for for free and within minutes (dives don't take long), then you'd start thinking it's the optimal way to get your produce.
And you're in San Jose, Ca! Lucky! The diving scene is huge in CA. No shortage of bins in your neck of the woods. First off, contact Food Not Bombs. They'll have divers who can get you into the scene, and who will gladly go with you. And look, I already did half the work for you here= )

Permalink Reply by HolisticHealthDetective on May 26, 2012 at 2:00am Actually, I took the livery to check out San Jose's FNB facebook page, and it's great! They seem like an active and committed group who dive everyday, from the sounds of it. Do you have FB? You may kick things off by joining their page! = )
