Hello! I am very new to HCRV (today is day 4) & was wondering if the calorie recommendations are the same for nursing mamas. Also, has anybody here successfully dropped baby weight while nursing?

Comment by Bella V. on September 18, 2012 at 4:33am Hello all...Zoe was born 5 days early (none of the others were early) on Tuesday the 11th at 11p.m. after 26 MINUTES of labor! Nearly painfree...just crampy like menstrual cramps and in 3 painless pushes she was in my hand! Hubby was a little late running across the house, it was about as autonomous as I will probably every be! We're all doing great and still in shock at how fast labor was! HCLF Vegan is the best way to go for an awesome pregnancy, labor and delivery!
Comment by Renee O'Duhring on September 14, 2012 at 6:41pm Hello everyone. I'm about 7-8 weeks along with my third bubba, and this one really wants me to go all the way HCRV. I still have cooked vegan meals most evenings, but am finding them completely unsatisfying. Craving watermelon at the moment, and can't wait for mango season! I had bloods done recently and discovered my calcium and fat levels are a little low, so I am eating more oranges and OJ for calcium, but really not feeling like any fats other than a bit of avocado here and there. Does anyone else worry about micronutrients? I should mention I am also breastfeeding bub #2 and that looks like it will continue for a long while yet.
Comment by Banana Xandra on September 10, 2012 at 8:26am Hi e'erbody,
New to this group. Though I'm not preg or breastfeeding at the moment, I am a doula. So I'm interested in this group not only as a future mother, but also professionally. I offer full spectrum, birth and postpartum support so I have a pretty wide range of knowledge of before, during and after baby is born. (Also abortion, hysterectomy, and general vagina support)
So I guess I'm offering my small wealth of knowledge in this area since there seems to be quite a few questions here. Feel free to message me if you don't want it public. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.
Much love,
AP
P.S. Anyone living in the NYC area? Holla!
Comment by RawMomInCA on July 28, 2012 at 1:21pm I'm going to be introducing solids to my baby soon. Anyone have suggestions for first fruits? Is Mango too sugary? I've already let her suck on a mango once and she went bonkers for it and started crying immediately when I took it away. I think with my other two kids I started with banana, avocado and steamed veggies. I am not going to do any cooked food this time. Thanks for any suggestions!
Comment by katherine on July 26, 2012 at 2:59pm Hi raw mama goddesses!
Anyone pregnant at the moment in the South East Queensland Area? I live on north Stradbroke Island with my partner and 5yr old and we have been high carb raw vegan for nearly 5 years. Love to connect with some others on this journey. Im 8 weeks and feeling good. Although ive slipped in a few potatoes here and there ;) Bliss and blueberries xo Kath
Going to Thailand in a couple of months with my baby, he'll be 6 months old by then. Does anyone know if it's acceptable to breastfeed in public? I'm very discreet, but still, don't want to offend anyone...
Comment by Jarafel Chavkerova on May 25, 2012 at 7:46am ouu thanks for the info..hehe..okey I will try ginger tea, I haven't had it for a while..yea..I don't have too much appetite right now although I feel crazy hungry sometimes..it literally hurts..heh.. I noticed one thing I can eat is almond yogurt I found in store yesterday..thats about the only thing my body is okey with...without starting to feel nausea..
but I like pickles and sauerkraut too...and they have salt for sure :)
thanks for info again :)
Comment by Bella V. on May 25, 2012 at 6:19am If you can't handle raw greens, then sautee some veggies, or try soups. One thing I learned is that when I was first expecting #1 hubby told me to eat 2 salads a day...I had so little and didn't realize that a side dish is not what he meant. I've come full circle and I eat about a head of lettuce, just while I sit and relax in the evenings...so juicy and sweet it makes it easy - just my personal preference. If you are still having trouble with nausea, then try either fresh or ground ginger. I make a tea of about 1/2 tsp. of ground ginger in warm water to extract and hydrate the nutrients and either drink it warm or cool it off when it's hot out. I used to add honey until I was used to it without. This has been the best and easiest way for me...peppermint barely worked (I ate the candy with my first - sigh) and spearmint is slightly better, but the ginger knocks it out...for me. One more thing (and if you have any more questions I could go on forever) lower any salt/sodium intake if you are having any. That will help the mg and K work faster to help with cramping and keep you from having more or related problems. If you need to buy larger quantities of tea, we get ours from herbalcom dot com. They have spices too, don't sell tea balls. I need some tea now (ouchie)...forgot about it this morning and been feeling good...oops.
Comment by Jarafel Chavkerova on May 24, 2012 at 11:15am 9th child..ouu my goodness :) hehe :) that's amazing :) good luck with all of them!!! okey, I will try all those things, thank you for information. lately indeed, even when I just stand up from sofa I have some serious pain sometimes..uuh..so magnesium, I just bought yogi healthy pregnancy tea and it has rasberry leaf and other goodies inside+ peppermint that helps with my nausea a little :)
one thing i didn't understand is should I a lot of greens or no? I am not too fond of raw food right now..heh..thank you for everything!
love
Comment by Bella V. on May 24, 2012 at 9:21am I've had the cramping with all my children. It is the muscles which need more magnesium, even when I lift weights, when I take extra mg then the muscles are able to utilize the calcium more efficiently and there is no more pain - same thing with the long ligaments stretching or other stretching that feels mentrual-y. I make an herbal tea of red raspberry leaf and nettle...you can get the greens fresh or buy dried (we happen to be growing both). I drink it twice per day now...I'm about 23 weeks along. You MUST make sure you are getting enough water, as well. If you are having green smoothies and salads which include spinach (try not to have more than 1 cup per day as your kidneys and liver are highly tasked in pregnancy and you don't need (like I had when I thought I could eat alot more spinach) kidney stones...which are incredibly painful, kale and lettuces as well as other greens for your magnesium. If you continue with the crampiness and you've fulfilled all of these things, next you may have to supplement with something (much better than vitamins!) like Natural Calm magnesum. Still having problems (yes, I've run this gamut too many times) then you may want to have some baker's chocolate, which has nothing added and is high in copper. I didn't believe it, didn't eat choc. until I had severe cramping every night that made regular leg cramps look like they were minor irritations. I'm expecting our 9th (yes, still shocks me too) and am trying vegan with a little cooked and these supplements. Hope you feel much better and have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery!
