Hey Figgie - are you in Portland? I am, too (well, not this exact moment) - I would love to go foraging with fellow fruities - in fact, I know of some AMAZING fig and plum trees in SE...would love to share with others that truly appreciate...let me know. Oh, and they are free - yippee! Would also be interested in that farm - fun fun! Also, I volunteer on Saturdays at the fruit farm in Beavercreek - it is great fun - when I get back from my fast, I will be there pretty much every Saturday - they have ALLLLL the fruit you can grow in the NW - and more!

Oh, also, a great organic blueberry u-pick about 45 min from Portland (Beavercreek, OR):

Only $2.25/lb and they are incredible tasting. In past years they also had unadvertised things for sale such as organic carrots and lettuce and peas, etc all at really good prices. They are not open yet, as far as I know, best to call their phone line to check before heading over.

If anyone is interested in David Klein's book, Self-Healing Colitis & Crohn's, 3rd edition, it will soon be available in the Clackamas County Library System (Multnomah County folks are eligible to open a Clackamas County library card, too)

good idea Kathleen. Make a coop - even if they aren't all raw - people still buy in bulk to save and they can split cases among themselves if they like. is there a minimum for the kent location? how about start a non proffit biz as a fruit buyer or something. i bet if you really ask the people in charge they will tell you a way to get it. I spent $248.00 this week alone on OGC. ttyl

Ha, I just sent Richard an email yesterday asking him how he does it, too. Maybe we all need to become a 'business'. I wonder why they won't sell to individuals?

Laurie,
Unfortunately, their Seattle (or Kent) location doesn't sell to individuals unless it's a large function (i.e. H&F Week - Dr D buys from them). Kathleen called them. I guess we have to go visit Richard to pick up fruit from them!!!

Richard, Is there anything particular we should do to buy from Organically Grown? Their site says they don't sell to individuals. What did you do to set up an account? Thanks!

Wow, Jillian, that sounds great, I wonder if my TJ's here near Portland will have the same...

Fred Meyers (at the least the ones in the Portland, OR area) have some decent sales right now. Organic strawberries 1lb & raspberries 6oz are $2. Pinapples (not organic) are also $2.
