That's pretty interesting...I've always figured that if your stomach is empty, you get hungry but I guess if given sufficient amount of calories the body doesn't feel hunger even on an empty stomach? Anyway, I'll have to try that because I continuously am always at 1,500 calories by the time dinner rolls around, which doesn't seem like enough according to 30BAD members and DR/F. Thanks for your input!

i guess i'd say i don't feel hungry, since i fill my stomach with a high volume of food all the time, but i definitely start to get depressed around 2pm if i'm not keeping up w/r/t calorie consumption, lol. that's why i like to eat a bunch in the morning so i don't have to catch up. if i have a 1000 calorie smoothie at 9:30, another one at 11:00 or 11:30, i can eat my last 1000 calories at around 6 pm. i think maybe eating more calories earlier in the morning would help you feel full longer?

I wish I could tell you the benefits of the water fast, because I did still have energy, but it was of a different kind than what I get from eating.   The most memorable difference was the clarity of thought and regeneration I felt I was undergoing.  My physical energy had been slightly reduced, my emotional energy relaxed, and my spiritual energy was magnified.

I try not to eat if I can still feel food digesting from the previous meal.  I understand hunger as a physiological need, not a psycological desire, and do not believe I have ever truly felt it, even after several weeks of water fasting or over 100 hours with no food or water.

Thanks for the responses. Matthew, how do you stay full for 6 hours?? Even when I'm eating until my maximum capacity with smoothies/fruits, the longest I can go until I start to get hungry again is 3-4 hrs. Also, do you guys wait to until you're pretty hungry? I find myself only waiting until I'm actually starving to eat but probably also why when the hunger comes, it comes STRONG

agree w/ haribon. i eat all morning so i can go to class at noon and i won't need to eat for ~6 hours. waking up earlier makes that possible. i guess just layer up for auditoriums. if i'm dressed warm, i don't mind drinking something cold. i'm at UW as well, but i've never had a class bigger than 30 people, so i can't say much about that

I go to The Evergreen State College on weekdays for classes but I don't chug my smoothies, nor do I lug them around.  I don't get as much enjoyment or digestive ability by chugging them.  Instead I chew them slowly.  Also, if I want fruit while I am at school, I bring whole fruit, not a jar full of oxidizing fruit.  When I'm at home I blend them up and have the smoothy right away.  To deal with coldness, I set my food in a warm location to get it to a desirable temperature before eating it.  For example, I will take things out of the fridge or freezer or from out side, and put them in a bowl on top of the fridge or even just on the counter.  Adding warm or hot water to smoothies helps too.  I eat twice a day and work out twice a day.  While my body is still warm from working out, I eat, and cold food helps cool me off.

I make banana-date smoothies and datorade with really warm water and/or room temp coconut water.  They are both really, really satisfying and keep me feeling warm.  Fresh squeezed oj is pretty good too but I don't know if that's enough calories for you...
