is there anyone here over 60 ?

I turned 60 last July. Hard to believe; I feel more or less the same as I did when I was in my twenties or thirties.

Hi, I'm new to this group - I'll be 52 in March.  It's fair to say I've been 'playing' with raw vegan for almost 10 years but have made a conscience decision to ditch all the bad habits and be totally 811 by my birthday.  Meat and most dairy isn't proving a problem at all but as a typical Brit I'm still drinking tea with milk every day but apart from a couple of cups I've swapped that for either redbush or fruit/herb teas which are all milk free.  My very very worst habit is smoking, I'm cutting down bit by bit and getting closer to stopping but am not there yet.

My husband and foster child eat meat every day, they don't exactly support my food choices but don't mock or deride them either and he's happy to bring home the bananas and fruit for me when I ask :-)

I've had some serious health issues the last couple of years so am looking forward to the day when I no longer need the meds for Crohn's Disease and high blood pressure.  And I want to feel like I did in my twenties too :-)

hey sunluvva, welcome to the group !

yeah, a lot of us have been playing her and there with raw vegan but i got serious this time and im so far into it now that even if i was to go back to cooked foods, my body wouldn't let me do it.

when is your birthday ?

smoking - yeah, i hear you on that one - i smoked for 30 years and gave it up last year - thank goodness for the 801010 because its giving my body the energy and nutrient to repair that damage as much as possible.

i want to die my way - not as a product of society and smoking is society in a box.

but i do understand where you at.

ugh its hard when other eat animals - i feel for you.

goodness - get off the crohns meds - 801010 will fix you completely up but you have to ditch the smoking too.

how about you do raw vegan and go from there - sound like a good plan ?

Thanks for the welcome Vegan witch.  Well for some reason today really is the day - I've been gearing myself up for it and today will be 100% raw vegan and I don't want to go back. Tomorrow is the day to stop smoking - I've still got enough cigs to last the day and if I don't smoke them I will feel like I'm depriving myself (it's just my mindset - I know what I'm like!) but tomorrow will be the day.  I don't want any nicotine replacement products so I may end up on 20 bits of celery a day but that won't harm me :-)

My birthday's on 19th march and I'm hoping to feel a bit younger by then ;-)

On a positive note - I've been really high raw for a few weeks now and haven't needed the Crohn's meds all weekend and I reckon I won't need the blood pressure ones within a week of stopping smoking.

good for you sunluvva !

now take it one step at a time Ok - let changes you make being sustainable changes.

it is better to do 1 sustainable change than 100 changes that only last the week.

ive been smoking since i was 15 till i was 44 and a pack a day - i gave up over night with no assistance a year ago - im now 45.

the 801010 does help cravings - make sure you carb up good and well in the morning.

celery is good - its anti-inflamatory.

your doing it at good time too - this is the time of the year where you start getting stronger because its coming up to the time of the year you were born.

if you dont watch yourself - your going to start to live again !!

Woo Hoo, I can't wait :-)

if we were closer - id shout you a banana !

:-)

Hi, everyone! Hope everyone is fruity! I am new to the group. I think as I get older, feeling good and making my life simple is becoming the most important activities of the day. I really have been blessed with good health so far and I do not want to do anything to mess that up. So this plan is vital to on-going health. It is also bigger than what I first thought it would be for myself. It is not just eating differently. It is becoming a very interesting journey.

same here barbara - i totally agree with you and im also on the same journey.

bring it on i say !
