30 Bananas a Day!

Hey all,

Just wondering where you guys are buying your loads of fruit from. I've called New Gen Produce and they haven't gotten any organic bananas in for a couple of months now. I don't really want to take a trip all the way down there because I'm not sure what else they have.

I've been buying my fruits from various whole foods and fairway markets but it's been quite expensive and sometimes the quality isn't so great or they don't always have things.

What's your techniques? I need some tips.

Thanks

I've had good luck just walking in to the closest grocery store or health food store and talking to the produce manager.  Depending on the place, they are sometimes happy to get you a deal on bulk bananas.  but aside from bananas, I don't usually buy anything in bulk.  I just go around to my local bodegas and grab all the deals :)
Visit supermarkets and ask if they have reduced produce. Stop & Shop always has a rack of reduced produce. On certain days it's nothing but apples. But if you go early in the morning you can pick up ripe bananas, mangoes, pears, cucumbers, grapefruit. You never know what you might find.

Looking for dates in bulk in the city. Any suggestions?
