Permalink Reply by Loulou on May 24, 2012 at 8:40am Hi William, I see you were down to do a talk at the Cardiff veggie fayre at the weekend. How did it go?? Really sorry we wern't able to be there to support you but my partner and I had to work. A few years ago, there was a guy selling raw food, anything there this year?
Hi! :-)
I'm working on becoming a LFRV. Right now I'm just getting used to being vegan and I'm eating about 50% raw. I'm in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire and would love to get in contact with anyone in the area. I don't know any other vegans round here!
For anyone who might be interested, there is a great shop in Lampeter called The Organic Fresh Food Company and I buy wholesale boxes of bananas there (organic and fairtrade) for £23 a box.
Where do you get your fruit from in Wales?
Permalink Reply by William Williams on April 28, 2012 at 6:03am That shop sounds good. I buy from Splott market in Cardiff. As I can buy ripe produce really cheap. Not usually organic though, but the last three weeks I've been able to buy ripe Organic Fairtrade Bananas for £8.50 a box! (one of the boxes of bananas were a bit dry though, so used them in smoothies). Canary Island tomatoes £3 a box.
I've also been to 'Claire road food store' once in grange town, it's an amazing indian shop, where you can buy some fresh produce including different varieties of banana which taste so good like 'apple banana' (mini ones) and ripe plantaine £3.50 per kg.
Permalink Reply by Loulou on April 29, 2012 at 5:12am We go to the wholesale fruit market in Bessemer Road, Cardiff every week or so. We tend to stock up on bananas, pineapples, melon and oranges although they are rarely organic. However this week we got 4 boxes of loose bananas for £3 each and 3 boxes of Organic bananas for £4 each just cos they where yellow and starting to get ripe!! :)))
Permalink Reply by William Williams on April 28, 2012 at 5:55am Hi Georgie, I live in Penarth, And I'm happy to be in contact. I've been LFRV for about 2 months now, the first month I was easing into it. Previous to that I was vegan for three years so that could of made it easier.
Permalink Reply by StaceyT on May 24, 2012 at 8:08am I live in Bridgend. I`m just getting started on 118 so I`m still looking for the best places to buy, I might just see if I can make friends with the greengrocer in the market.
