Wow, do I digest the hard winter squashes so much better than white potatoes and even better than sweet potatoes/yams. And it's incomparable to the inflammation response I get to grains, forget about grains! Now, I know squash is botanically a fruit, perhaps that's why.
I don't get lethargic from the winter squashes! That's a big issue for me. and the other miracle is I can eat them plain. I thought eating them would trigger me to not only binge but compulsively putting butter, salt and sugar on them, but I'm truly enjoying them plain.
Butternut squash is my favorite, then spaghetti is fun and the little acorn ones are good too. Not the time of year to get my hands on pumpkin; I've never cooked one myself and I don't want to eat it out of the can.
Please consider trying squash if you're having difficulty with other cooked food. I've finally stabilized from a binge eating disorder, and now I eat fruit-based meals for breakfast and lunch, then have a salad and squash for dinner, and I'm a very happy camper!
