Hey everyone, So I'm sure many people have heard of or read about the challenges done here on 30 BaD:) I'm doing a second round and anyone is able to join me. I'm experimenting for 30 days more to see if this diet affects me as well as I'm hoping for, but everyone can join for their own curiosities, projected measures, nutrition improvement, or just for fun. Here are the guidelines:
Anyone interested, just know I'll be starting on Friday August 10th. I hope for company in this so please let join me if even slightly interested! Thanks everyone:)

Permalink Reply by Ashlee on August 9, 2012 at 6:26am For anyone curious, my goal for the next 30 days is for my diet to be 90/5/5. I've had difficulty in the past staying away from oils, and especially salt so I'm going to get my diet in the best shape for me & keep it there. I'll also be trying to get at least 15 minutes of sunlight daily, & aiming for a minimum of 5 liters of water. I understand these aren't the goals for everyone, & they aren't expected to be anyone else's either. These are just my personal preferences.
Note: Greens are definately still a recommendation for everyone, not necessarily everday but as often as needed:)
Permalink Reply by J on August 9, 2012 at 6:32am Yippee!!!! -- I'm so glad to see another thread of this style of yours started. I'm definitely considering joining. I just wanted to say thank you for starting another one.
Is Aug 10th, Friday?
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on August 9, 2012 at 6:35am Ha, yes I meant Friday then, Sorry:) Thanks for pointing that out, & thank you so much for wanting to join! Is Friday good for you?
Permalink Reply by J on August 9, 2012 at 6:41am Ok, just wanted to make sure whether it was Saturday or the 10th that you liked better. :-)
I'm good with either day. I'm just so thrilled and thankful that you are heading this up again, Ashlee. Admittedly, with not being on facebook, I've felt a bit left out of the community.
Hopefully, I'll re-post Friday!
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on August 9, 2012 at 6:47am Thank you J, I'm glad you're so excited. I am too:) & yeah I think most of the challenges should be absed here too but it may be more convenient for them that way... ? But I'm so glad that you're in this with me. If you have any more ideas you'd like to add to this challenge please don't hold back, I love learning and expanding ideas. I can't wait to begin!
Permalink Reply by J on August 9, 2012 at 7:10am Since I didn't do the last one, do you have parameters or guidelines for the "cooked meal" that are helpful to follow?
- oils? yes or no? which one?
- can it be cooked in skillet, etc --- or steamed only?
- what about microwaveable "vegan" meals?
- can it be beans, rice, potatoes, vegetables, etc?
- so in cooking the cooked meal: anything helpful to ask myself before? -- so as to stay within parameters?
Oh, and I like your shooting for 90/5/5 --- the few days that I tried just fruits/vegetables -- that's what it came out to. I'll be curious to see what the cooked meal is close to.
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on August 9, 2012 at 7:58am Well I like to leave it up to you, whichever cooking method works best. Whether in a skillet or crock-pot or anything in between I suppose it's ok.... I think they say it's best to steam though.
I preferrably don't like oil at all, only because it's straight fat and it interferes with glucose absorption in the blood and causes diabetes. I think limited very small amounts are negotiable but I think I'll leave it up to you. I dislike it also cause I'm really aiming for weight loss, lol!
& also, I just eat Cooked potatoes, corn, sometimes Kale or Quinoa, and rice of course. Squash too & yes beans are fine also. It's really up to you:) As far as the vegan cooked meals I usually stray from those if they're loaded with fat and especially salt(really common in frozen meals), & I usually just try to consume whole natural foods as much as possible. So use your best judgement. A good question to ask yourself before a meal or eating something "How close is it to it's natural form(the way its found in nature)?" Because most things processed are either loaded with fat and salt or processed to the point they're more toxic to us than beneficial. Like I said, use YOUR best judgement:)
Permalink Reply by J on August 9, 2012 at 8:09am Thanks for the added guidance - everything you said was helpful. It makes me feel more a part of this when I'm on the same page as you and everyone else. (and, by the way, weight loss is also one of my goals)
Heartfelt appreciation to you for starting another thread like this for all those interested! And, I look forward to posting on the 10th!
Permalink Reply by Ashlee on August 9, 2012 at 8:12am My pleasure! So glad to be doing this with you:) & Oh yes I need to lose another 30-35 pounds before being at my goal weight(135). Thank you again, I'm thrilled:)
Permalink Reply by J on August 10, 2012 at 5:26pm Hey Ashlee! Hope you're doing well! I just finished 2 peaches and a nectarine (and, it's about 2am)... excited to try this. My aim is losing about 50-60 lbs and incorporating this way of eating as part of a healthier lifestyle.
(I'm going to try and follow your other thread too where you asked about weight loss and raw.)
Permalink Reply by J on August 11, 2012 at 5:40am Can you believe I messed up already? Combination of not prepared and discouraged/overwhelmed. :-(
